Unsurprising. Watanabe's anime never adapt well to a manga format, and those poor fits last exactly as long as they deserve to. See also: Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo.

Considering the main purpose of the series is to be an animation-talent smorgasbord, I'm not sure why anyone would be into a manga adaptation in the first place. Now if they pulled the equivalent and had the likes of Urasawa and Miura contributing one-off chapters, then you'd be talking.

I hope this isn't going to mean the anime will end after 26 episodes ?
But frankly i din't even knew space dandy was a manga  to begin with so it may not have anything to do with it.
That being sad i din't like the last episodes as much as the others from the second season so i hope they woudn't begin to drop the ball here and they gonna need quality stuff if they wanna make a 3th and 4th season.

They'll keep doing more if FUNi/Adult Swim keep paying for them, otherwise the show is another Fractale in Japan.

At a German anime con Minami said that he is thinking about creating Space Dandy movie, and that it really depends on international success.
