I seriously found the prior two games weird. Given this calls itself III I am guessing it is a continuation of the alternate storyline. Which is bad, because it is terrible.

I am not sure why they didn't just set the games in ALO if they wanted to have all the characters. Instead it is just a stupid alternate SAO where later characters just mysteriously appear.
