I hope it'll be a good movie, because I can't see how a movie can build a pre-race tension, have the race, and reach a satisfactory catharsis within a 90~120 minutes.
Part of the appeal of the series is the multi-episode tension build-up. |

That's what I was thinking. With nearly 40 printed volumes, selling only 1.3 million doesn't exactly seem that spectacular. |

I just noticed that the trailer had the kanji 万 (man ; ten thousand). 1,300 times 10,000 is 13,000,000, not 1.3 million.
Now that I think about it, if the setting is a race/tournament of a lesser scale than the Inter-High, I could see how it'll be a good movie. Something like a City Tournament or Local Neighborhood Race or even some ace(-wannabe) from other school comes and challenging Sohoku's Cycling Club. |
