I'm just hoping the on-disc extras like the shorts and such will still be in the standard editions.

They should be in there; unless Sentai wants to author more discs.

They are already officially listed, so yeah, they will be the same discs with the same on-disc extras (commentary, promos, shorts, and clean OP/ED animation).

Did this series not do well in Japan or something? I would've expected a second season by now.

Aww yeah. Loved the show, although a second season would be nice. I want the special edition, but I'm not sure if i down to pay that much. If I'm strapped for cash I'll just get the blu ray standard.

The series did fine in Japan (see herem for example.) It just caught up to the source material (the light novels.) They asked for the manuscript for the last light novel to be given to the anime production team while the production was on-going rather than make an incompatible ending, from what I've heard.

Having not watched it yet, I still find it appropriate if Monica Rial played Stephanie since Monica shared Yoko Hikasa's Campione and Infinite Stratos roles.

Considering it's been known since Aug. that it was getting a dub, "calling it" isn't much of a feat.

The anime was with lolicon content removed hard? Jeez. It still had way too much. Really detracted from the show.

It had no lolicon content.
Everything was kept funny, and nothing erotic. The proof for that is its popularity in the west.

Ah, I see. That makes a lot of sense now.

I like that there's a lot of shows where they're stopping when they catch up now instead of making filler arcs, which used to be a standard. If only this was done to One Piece. Of course, where No Game, No Life caught up, putting in a filler story would be very difficult, if not impossible, and would be disrespectful to the source material.
