Crowdsourcing - Anime/Manga/Merch.

Hi everyone,

I have a favor to ask of you. We are strongly considering licensing several classic Anime TV series from the 70's, 80's and 90's and releasing them using the crowdfunding model.

One big question we are trying to figure out is: "Should we release on DVD or Blu-Ray?"

DVD production and replication costs are significantly lower than Blu-Ray, so if we release on DVD, we'd be able to do so at a lower price -- and this may make it more likely that the crowdfunding campaign succeeds.

On the other hand, Blu-Ray image quality is better and we'd love to be able to release these series in the best possible format.

To help us figure out which option makes the most sense, I've created a short google survey. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to help us out -- it should only take you a few minutes.

Final Message

This week we have shipped out the final packages from Creamy Mami 3-4 and Black Jack 2 to supporters. As you may have noticed, Anime Sols has not added any new projects for quite a while, focusing only on completing the goods which had already been funded. It saddens me to say that animesols.com will be shutting down on May 1st, 2015. The videos will remain up until then if you would like to watch them. Thanks to everyone who pledged and supported us!

Hey everyone!

This is Sam Pinansky (founder of anime sols...). I bet you noticed that we're shutting down next month, which is sad, and maybe are a little upset that we only subtitled half of Dororo.

But here's a little inside information for you: It won't be long until all of Dororo will be legally available in english. Just not through anime sols. Your support for the first half was enough to show that support is out there for the show.

(for those of you who tried to pledge over the last few weeks, yes, I had shut off credit card processing since we knew we were closing down. I couldn't have the goal succeed and then have the site be shut down soon afterwards. Sorry about that, but I didn't want to cause a panic by announcing before we had shipped out all the support packages people had pledged for.)

Definitely available. There are active negotiations [for Black Jack tv] in fact. (But nothing confirmed like dororo)

And DMP made the Kickstarter stretch goal to re-print Swallowing the Earth as well! If you need that or Barbara, now's the time to order through the Kickstarter!

BTS is on my (very long) list of titles I'd like to do, however the rights are handled by a different company so it would have to be a separate project.
