AnimEigo is asking for some feeback:

Hi everyone,

I have a favor to ask of you. We are strongly considering licensing several classic Anime TV series from the 70's, 80's and 90's and releasing them using the crowdfunding model.

One big question we are trying to figure out is: "Should we release on DVD or Blu-Ray?"

DVD production and replication costs are significantly lower than Blu-Ray, so if we release on DVD, we'd be able to do so at a lower price -- and this may make it more likely that the crowdfunding campaign succeeds.

On the other hand, Blu-Ray image quality is better and we'd love to be able to release these series in the best possible format.

To help us figure out which option makes the most sense, I've created a short google survey. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to help us out -- it should only take you a few minutes.

http://goo.gl/forms/CXw6KqzIQ2

If you can repost the survey on social media, I would greatly appreciate it -- the more data I get, the better decisions I can make.

Best,
Robert

Tis a very sad day.......Anime Sols announced today that they will be shutting down.....

Final Message

This week we have shipped out the final packages from Creamy Mami 3-4 and Black Jack 2 to supporters. As you may have noticed, Anime Sols has not added any new projects for quite a while, focusing only on completing the goods which had already been funded. It saddens me to say that animesols.com will be shutting down on May 1st, 2015. The videos will remain up until then if you would like to watch them. Thanks to everyone who pledged and supported us!

All sets are now available to order at Right Stuf:

Black Jack set 1: http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/ZZOzi4aetpPBY-Xjzn/browse/item/101552/4/0/0

Well, it's not all bad news. Not sure if they sent this to everyone or only Dororo supporters, but I got this email:

AnimeSols wrote:
Hey everyone!

This is Sam Pinansky (founder of anime sols...). I bet you noticed that we're shutting down next month, which is sad, and maybe are a little upset that we only subtitled half of Dororo.

But here's a little inside information for you: It won't be long until all of Dororo will be legally available in english. Just not through anime sols. Your support for the first half was enough to show that support is out there for the show.

Thanks,
Sam P.

(for those of you who tried to pledge over the last few weeks, yes, I had shut off credit card processing since we knew we were closing down. I couldn't have the goal succeed and then have the site be shut down soon afterwards. Sorry about that, but I didn't want to cause a panic by announcing before we had shipped out all the support packages people had pledged for.)

So that means that something is coming up in the pipeline somehow somewhere, at least for Dororo. Hopefully other shows too, but I'm damn glad I got my Dear Brother sets (shame I'll only have two sets for Black Jack, maybe someone else will grab that too?)

For anyone else who joined me in the Wakfu Kickstarter, they're being sent! They're obviously going by pledge order, I was in the 1400s (you can check your number by going to your backed projects overviews) so I clearly got mine earlier than others may. Mine shipped from France. But I've heard of people who have had problems with things missing, so check yours asap (I seemed to be missing the promised "smug duck" freebie sticker, except I don't really care. But I have two OST french op singles, so if you're missing one, pm me)

And DMP made the Kickstarter stretch goal to re-print Swallowing the Earth as well! If you need that or Barbara, now's the time to order through the Kickstarter! Or some people are waiting for the next one so their pledges go towards that one instead (DMP said they are going to set aside some of the new print for future Kickstarters, so if you want your money to count more towards the next one, waiting is a fine option many are taking too). Two out of the three we needed reprinted have got it! Unico will cost more though, being full color and all.

Or Brave Dan. It's real good, and this is the first time it'll be released in print.

EDIT: Should probably add the link.

^True! You bet I'm ordering Brave Dan, I have this freakish addiction to collecting Tezuka manga (a new goal is to get one random volume in every language with Tezuka titles, so far, other than English, I've got a German Adolf 1 and a Japanese Black Jack 3). Glad we're getting two this time around (though one was previously digital only, but still, progress!)

My pledge on this set is for the basic books + companion with add-ons for both Brave Dan and that sweet paperboy hat with Rock (my favorite Tezuka character) on it. I must have sweet Rock swag!
It's funny because I will wait for a good sale forever on any other manga (usually I just wait for my comic shop to get it in if it's new, or look for used online for cheap, or RightStuf sales if all else fails) but I'm spending stupid amounts of money on all these Tezuka Kickstarters. I've spent an average of $45 per Kickstarter (starting with the Captain Ken one), yet looking at the used prices on Amazon on some of the out of print ones, it's somehow ok suddenly.

Animeigo is seeking fan input on an Otaku no Video BD Kickstarter. Those Daicon shorts are sadly not included.

Edit: Also, I was hoping maybe this could be an excuse to finally land Blazing Transfer Student, but to no avail.

BTS is on my (very long) list of titles I'd like to do, however the rights are handled by a different company so it would have to be a separate project.
