Sure, I've been coming here everyday for years, though I haven't been posting as steadily lately as I used to. In some places I've been known as the "anime guy", not the "Transformers guy". But back on topic, just the other past weekend at Portcon Maine, Michael Sinterniklaas (ADR director) said he still didn't know what they had planned for the series (he seemed genuine about it, I was probably the only GGG fan in attendance so it's not like he was playing the crowed). I know they said that Voltron was tying up their resources, but by the sounds of it they're only leaving themselves open for one robot series at a time if they're continuing to bring in new licenses.

I imagine the reason for putting out more new licenses is those are *new* licenses, and thus likely to sell more. Once things have stabilized a bit more, and more Voltron fans discover GaoGaiGar [the trailer is on every voltron set], I imagine MB will relaunch it in some form [I figure a new vol.1'ld make sense, and just call it "season 2" if that means a dub might be more possible, though I'd be okay with a subonly release]

I've got to get to PortCon Maine someday. I would of gone this year, but didn't have vacation time available [I've really got to get to more conventions outside of Animaritime].

I think it's moreso that the licenses have expired [ie- they opted not to renew them], and MB went directly to the japanese licensors to get the rights to it. A number of CPM titles have had their rights expire, partly due to their money problems, partly because the contracts up [they've been in the industry for decades, with many titles available for 15+ year]. Though I imagine they'll keep a hold onto whatever good selling licences they can [and probably have years left on more recent stuff], in addition to licensing occasional stuff like the Akihabara Trilogy live action movies.

Though fyi- they never actually went bankrupt. Suncoast did. Due to assorted dvd store chains folding, CPM as a smaller company took a bigger hit, so they put a lot of plans on hiatus, and focused on distributing the titles they already had, as well as reestablishing their manga line. No idea how well it's working for them, but I do hope they get back to releasing more wonderfully cheesy OVA's.

If I have one request for Media Blasters, for the sake of all that is good, PLEASE keep Golden Boy's hilariously over-the-top dub! That was the best part of that series, and any DVD release without it will just feel incomplete (yes, I'm being completely serious).

OH YES, MY QUEE~N!

Seconded. It's the first thing I thought of when I heard it was changing hands, that dub is one of the funniest around.

Hmm... now this is something I didn't know. But I figured that if they were staying afloat they were banking on the more popular titles or "adult" stuff. Eventually, they'll have to rescue those titles from obsurity. Hmmm... I better try and grab what I can from what's left over. I can already see a decline in the amount releases they've had out for some time. But again that's to be expected. But at least you know why. I guess it's not a priority for a company to announce what they're discontinuing.

Oh the 'Futari H' manga is now up to 34. Still going.

I'm very happy to see Fuyu no Seme liscensed so fast. And Embarcing Love (its japanese name escapes me at the moment). Angel Feather I could do without though. But it seems that MB is the title holder for the Yaoi titles. I think they have everything except Gravitation so far.

I am also happy with Strawberry Panic. I am a Yaoi Fangirl and Yuri Fangirl so this makes me very happy. MB is starting to become my favorite company again. I am glad to see them announce a lot. Very Happy

Yaoi side: Gakuen Nana Fushigi

Huh? Shocked

The "Gakuen Nanafushigi" is know was the adult title that featured hot schoolgirls, one handsome guy, and a lot of ghosts. And it's done by Milky.

A note on Milky: The same company that was attached to the hip of JapanAnime... It seems that they heard my plea and switched by to Kitty Media (Blasters). Now all we good boys and girls need to do is hand them money when our favorite titles get R1ed.

Seems funny seeing Akihabara @ DEEP listed as "Tokyo Shock", a show that was supposed to be animated for Nickelodeon (and seemingly canceled with Domo-kun).

Does anyone know whether those two anime adaptation of Youka Nitta's titles are explicit or not? From the limited knowledge I knew they were not as explicit as most hentai were, but now MB has listed it under Kitty Media I'm not so sure. If so I'll have to change its age ratings.

Can't believe Mousou Shoujo Otaku Kei got licensed too before reexamining news items today. Shocked

I would call them explicit. Not like hardcore hentai or anything, or not as bad as Sensative Pornograph. There is no mistake that they are having sex. So I would keep them adults only.

Em, well, "having sex" alone is not equal to "adults only." Take Berserk as an example: it has loving sex (spoiler[Guts and Casca]), prostitution (spoiler[Griffith sold himself to a general for supports]), and rape (spoiler[Griffith to Casca, Guts as a kid]), yet it's still a mature title instead of adults only (although in some countries it is adults only). Another example is ShoComi: while being a popular magazine among junior to senior high school girls, almost every title in it has protagonists having sex, and because of that it has become a big headache of Japanese PTA.

So the question is: are those sex scenes designed to serve the purpose of titillating and arousing its readers? If so then I'd call it "adults only."

If that is the question, than I would say no. It is just part of the storyline. I didn't look at it as a whole until you said the above question. Embarassed Althought the 2nd scene in FnS is a bit more explicit than the first, I think I would go with Mature instead of Adults Only for both.

I love the premise and sounds like it will be pretty funny. I'll have to keep my eye out for this one.
