spoiler[Tsubasa feeling a bit down by being bested by Rokudou.
Guess he is his rival in many things..
Tsubasa really needs to stop trying to exorcise spirits at sight *sigh*
That cat spirit sure got the better of Rokudou... poor guy.
Bad luck with his scythe breaking..
Looks like a bunch of kids got tricked & this whole mess started.
Interesting ending.]

Man, that scythe is kind of a metaphor for this whole series so far. Next week shows some potential to depart from that, but whether they do anything with it remains to be seen.

Episode 7:

Heh, that Masato character actually got me interested. I think it establishes a decent rival for Rinne to face off and a legitimate thread for the first time in this series.

Somewhat excited for next episode with that cliffhanger.

New interesting case for Rokudou.
Damn, that spoiler[Minami has skills]!
A spoiler[demon with a grudge] appears..
The whole thing was actually pretty funny ^^
That spoiler[Reiji suffered quite an abuse from his girlfriend].. *sigh*
spoiler[Masato, the demon], was quite childish & it was hard to take him seriously.
Guess we'll see how it plays out next time..

Episode 9

I guess that I will take this time to explain how I have felt about this series up to now. It is pretty bad. I feel like the biggest offences is that people generally act how the plot wants them to, people suddenly believe a supernatural event when they should be freaking out. The characters just accept the help of the random main characters, including a talking cat with a person face. And when wants the normal people out of the situation they have to loudly ponder what is going on while actually completely missing the actual supernatural event. Its incredibly clumsy in handling these situations.

Another problem is that the heroine is incredibly boring, it is not that she is a big insert character, but she pretty much has no personality. She just feels largely like a vehicle for the everygirl, with no actual opinions and quite expressionless, even compared to Rinne who seems like he should be the type. It could be made to work, but she pretty much has no one to bounce off to make it so.

The plot in general is filled with so many holes and people just acting unrealistic that it is hard to find the situations believable. It does feel quite in line as something for kids who are not yet used to following complex plot lines, but for me it feels like it is treating its audience as idiots. I just wish that this series was able to be more subtle and clear.

There are some good parts, although many jokes just fall flat, this episode had some good ones. Something about Rinne setting up the spoiler[transformation with "dress up"] made me think of some sort of magical girl thing like Sailor Moon or something. And in general the parts of Rinne spoiler[in a maid outfit] were entertaining.

spoiler[School festival] time!
spoiler[Wig] harassing people..
This was a weird one.
That case just felt like a filler.
spoiler[Damashigami appears.]
At least that's something new.
Not that great of an episode this time, but still OK.

I like characters, especially the cute adorable kitten spirit, but there is no story in this anime, it is "monster of the week" show.

Considering that Inuyasha did have a story, even though it was thinly stretched, I hoped that this project also can have it.

But no, it is more like Ranma 1/2 in this regard, and it is a pity.

Episode 10

It is probably sad that I am too distracted from knowledge of contract law in at least my country to believe that the father could make his underage son responsible as a co-signer of his debt? And also thoughts Legality of withdrawing his money while definitely not being a guardian, but I guess the more pressing news is that he is pretty much a murderer. Where is the afterlife police?

spoiler[Poor Rokudou can't catch a break this time.
He's sick and the problems keep multiplying.
That Rinne is the spitting image of Sabato (his dad).
So the cat is out of the bag.. his dad is a damashigami.
Damn.. his dad is a good for nothing bastard.]

Interesting episode.

The one thing that I find refreshing in the series is the fact that it's the first TV series by Rumiko Takahashi since Maison Ikkoku where the main male and female leads aren't constantly arguing or getting into petty fights with each other!

I've gotten behind on this, and I think the reason is, is that while I enjoy the storyline enough, the pacing of the show doesn't keep me interested enough to "want" to watch it.

So, I'm wondering now, if the manga fares better, pacing-wise, if anyone knows. I do want to continue with the story, but I just can't get interested in the anime.

The anime is rather faithful to the manga. Both are very episodic with only a few episodes taking more than one chapter. The main difference is that many of the episodes are in significantly different order. I'm not sure why. Other than that there is very little difference between the two.

Recently, because I'm watching the anime, I realized that I was several volumes behind on reading the manga. I managed to read all 17 volumes currently out in a couple of sittings.

Like you I don't feel compelled to watch a new episode as it comes out, but I find that when I do watch that I enjoy it.

He's also the worst dad ever!!
Their little weird battle was fun ^^
Nice that grandma stepped in and made an interesting announcement.
Well, looks like she was spot on at least for one of them..
Nice episode!]
