Yeah, it's annoying when we can't even get a kiss scene! I think Kamigami wrapped itself up pretty nicely and wouldn't need a season 2. But I'd kill for a second season of Brothers Conflict, and am waiting patiently for Diabolik Lovers: More Blood xD

Yeah, yeah. We all know how otome animes work. I'm not being sarcastic with you. But that doesn't the series itself more watchable. In the game, the player gets to pick the guy they like best. To be fair, UtaPri is like, the biggest otome anime tease there is. Most otome anime have some type of confessions going on, getting you deeper into each character's routes. But UtaPri just dangles each guy in front of you with no plot movement at all really. Doesn't help that Haruka is exceedingly dense, though that's to be expected from an MC, more or less. I wouldn't want her to pick someone, but I would enjoy the series more if there was actually ANY progression in the romantic plot, instead of only progressing starish as a group in their wanna-be Olympics. Let some of the guys confess and show her turmoil at not knowing who to pick at the very least.

"Brothers Conflict," you say. Thirteen stepbrothers attempting to win the love of their new stepsister.
Again, sigh...

This is the formula for most otome animes. They don't want the girl to pick any one guy because fans all have a different favorite. It's good to have feature episodes instead, giving us a glimpse into each character's game routes. If you want to watch an anime based on otome that actually decides to pick one guy, go watch Hakuouki. Otherwise, enjoy UtaPri, La Storia della Arcana Famglia, Brothers Conflict, Diabolik Lovers, etc for what they are. Anime based on dating sims that try to incorporate every route without having the heroine pick a single guy since that could turn off fans who don't like that character. |

I don't know why you think being based on an Otome game makes it not shojo, somehow.

"Shojo refers specifically to girls 7-18; you're thinking of Josei. Utapri is Shojo."
The UtaPri games are NOT intended for girls as young as 7. I wouldn't label them as Josei either though, as they're not exclusively for older women. I'm trying trying to find an actual age rating on the games, but not managing to do so. Personally, I'd consider the age ratings to be 16+. Maybe even as young as 14+. Shojo is meant for younger girls, Josei is for women. Otome is essentially a category all of it's own that applies to teens and up

I've read shoujo that's definitely not for kids as young as seven, yet it's still considered shoujo because it's aimed at a highschool age group.

Well if they didn't do a fourth season it would be a massive f you to all that have followed UtaPri and watched Maji Love Revolutions.
This is the first UtaPri season to end on such a dramatic cliffhanger and while I'm eager for more it is kind of annoying that the weakest season ends like this. :/ It's like they knew that this season hasn't been as well received and many are now done with the franchise so have pulled a stunt like this to ensure fans come back for more. Oh well, surely more UtaPri can't be a terrible thing?
I hope it will air soon though because I don't have the patience to wait 2 years like last time.

Not really. This show is clearly really popular if it's a shojo series that managed to make it to a fourth season. |
Well at the time I only said that because the first few comments were about a strong distaste to this series. (It almost feels like they were forced to watch it...)

Otome is a game category, right. Shoujo/Josei is a demographic genre. It's no way the same.

Right? I mean, the market is positively saturated with anime about pretty boys clamoring to hook up with a single girl. If only the industry paid attention to straight men more often. If only they turned out more shows about women clamoring to be with a single man. If only. |
You have a point, but the thing is that they could do something else than more UtaPri. From what I've watched (season 1, and the first half of season 2) it's really boring, all characters seems dull and not special.
There's a potential to do something way better with the UtaPri team, and they should really "grow up" about this project. |
Yeah, this is my beef with it as well. Season 1 and 2 were nice but A-1 totally left season 3 to the gutters. Bad animation, too much CGi, horrible storytelling....I can go on. |
I was enthralled with S1, but S2 it got pretty bad in the sense that eps featuring characters I didn't care much about I skipped because it was that bad. S3 really took the cake in that it's was S2 all over again. I guess as long as merchandise and the games keep selling, this'll never go away no time soon. I'm probably not gonna watch this much longer.

Demographics only apply to manga serialised in manga magazines, because they are explicitly labelled as such. There is no such demographic classification for light novels or anime in Japan.
Not to mention that the majority of anime is aired during the late-night/midnight time slot, which is obviously aimed at adult males and females. Take a look at Sabagebu... it is serialised in a shoujo magazine, but the anime aired at 22:30. You can say Sabagebu is a shoujo manga adaptation, but how could it be labelled a shoujo anime with that sort of time slot?
This is why using manga demographics for anime adaptations does not make any sense whatsoever, but we don't even need to get past the fact that anime do not have any demographic labelling. We can simply say the UtaPri anime is an otome game adaptation, which is aimed at teenage and young adult females. It does not have any explicit demographic labelling, so people should really give the arguments a rest.

I thought the second season had a fair share of confessions, but poor girl is just too dense to notice. I shall ship her and Tokiya until the bitter end. LOL. The biggest gripe I had with what I've seen of the 3rd season is honestly the drop in animation quality; season 1 and 2 were so pretty.
