3 movies for 1 novel. Expect delays and maybe even some Anime original content. This probably won't even be done until 2020.

[Edit]: removed ethnic slur. Errinundra.

That is completely fine. Bakemonogatari was two novels and had 15 episodes, they can make three 90 mins movies out of a single novel.

Each film is adapting a separate arc from the book. In the various TV series, each arc typically lasted anywhere between 2 to 7 episodes.

Spending an hour or two on each arc as a film sounds about right. In the end it'll be the same runtime each arc would've had anyways had it been adapted in to a TV season. Unless you were expecting a superfilm with a runtime on par with the Lord of the Rings extended cuts, there's very little to complain about here.

Yes finally!

Though I'm getting a horrible feeling that with 3 films this could end up being another 'Rebuild of Evangelion' fiasco. So *fingers crossed* it doesn't suffer any last minute delays and get pushed back again.

Also, hopefully the 2nd and 3rd films don't follow the same pattern as the 1st otherwise we'll be waiting until 2025 to see it all! Shocked

Well that's true but honestly calling them arcs is a bit questionable, Kizu is only one 'arc' which is Koyomi Vamp, it's not really split up into arcs since the entire thing is one continuous narrative.

I know what you mean by arcs since he has to do three things in the book, but again I wouldn't call them arcs. Honestly though this makes my Monogatari heart beat out of my chest I do worry about the pacing since the book isn't that long so it having essentially having the same content as a 13 episode anime. The Bakemonogatari anime covers two books and is 15 episodes...granted the anime obviously misses out bits here so Kizu will probably be the most true to the novel adaption of the series I guess.

You know Rokka adapted 1 novel into 12 episodes right?

And Rokka suffers from pacing issues as I worry this might ^^'.

Maybe that's why it took so long. Maybe they were trying to sort all of those out before going ahead with production
