At first based on the cover art I thought the girls were the actual size of cigarettes and were smoked like cigarettes. Almost like those anti-smoking commercials they have on TV now.
But if you have got to poison yourself slowly, this appears to be a great way to do it. Wonder if there are any side benefits of these smoking women. |

Yeah, I definitely don't expect this to sell in North America because advertising cigarettes alone is illegal but this is just taking it too far into the weird category.

I don't know about people actually buying it, but I think they could probably legally sell it. I'm pretty sure I've seen commercials for those vaper things (sorry, don't smoke or have any interest in alternatives) and from the first 2 chapters, it seems she is more akin to that than a cigarette (well that crossed with a sex-bot). The manga actually says cigarettes are banned for health reasons in 20XX so I don't think you could really argue that the manga is promoting smoking actual cigarettes. There is no branding that I saw, and it doesn't really come off as advertisement but some really weird story. In fact, it seems so far (granted I didn't thoroughly read both chapters) you could entirely replace the cigarette replacement robot idea with just a sexbot and everything would work just fine. The manga is pretty much using "smoking" as a replacement for making out / having sex. But again she isn't really a cigarette and vapor alternatives seem to be fine to advertise. |
