According to everything I see, this is going to go on for awhile as there should be new Funimation and Viz publisher deals on set weekdays and the small print says the basic deals, new ones every day, should be up until the 27th of December. I was kind of curious myself as previous years only had the three big waves prior to Black Friday but this year... I'm sorry...

It's like Christmas every day. I can't believe I just wrote that.

I need to finally pick up Tamako Market and Sunday Without God.

Tiger and Bunny The Movie 2- Loved the original series, never saw the movie so may as well check it out

Ninja Scroll- I've seen it, and I enjoy enough in all its dumb shlock, might as well at least consider actually owning it.

My Beatiful Girl Mari- Heard good things and its only like $3 so why not

Gatchaman Complete Collection- Older anime can be hit or miss with me. Some are classics that I can still enjoy, some get boring to me REAL fast. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Worth checking out or skip it?

What did you eat yesterday- Im a few volumes behind this, so this a good chance to catch up

Magic Knight Rayeearth Omnibus 1+2 - Never saw the anime or read the manga. Is the manga worth checkin out, so should I just watch the anime?

Hanasaku Iroha - I loved this back when it was simulcasting. Might buy and rewatch the whole series. If not, maybe just buy the movie

Maria Watches Over Us - Is this worth checking out? I know its based on an ongoing (at the time) light novel and the anime series doesn't cover all of it, would it still be worth seeing

Maria Watches Over Us isn't just my favorite anime series, but also my favorite television show, period. I've seen every episode at least a dozen times, and I've found new things to love about it every time.

It definitely won't appeal to everyone, though. I recommend you watch at least the first three episodes on Hulu before you decide whether to buy it or not; by the end of the third episode, you should know whether it's "your kind of show".

While the anime leaves out quite a bit, it's not really that big a deal. The show doesn't actually change anything, it just omits scenes and story arcs that aren't important to the main "Rosa Chinensis" plotline.

For example, in the fourth season of the anime, the protagonist hosts a party, and one of the guests is a character we've never seen before named Shōko Naitō. Shōko is actually a pretty important character in several of the Maria Watches Over Us short story collections, and her conversation with the protagonist at the party is a major turning point in her character arc... but if you don't know that, you can just watch the anime and think to yourself, "wow, what a very well drawn background character". Laughing

If you're asking "does the show have a 'read the light novels' ending?", then no. Think of it like K-On: while the K-On anime only covered the first four volumes of the manga, the show's ending doesn't require you to run out and buy volumes five and six in order to "find out what happens to the girls".

Rayearth is a great series. The first season of the anime covers the Rayearth manga (omnibus 1) fairly faithfully. There's a few changes that led to some... interesting "plot twists" in the second season, but overall isn't bad. The second season is somewhat based on the Rayearth II manga (omnibus 2), but other than the basic set-up, the plot diverges pretty steeply. I haven't seen it, but my roommate, when she bought the anime, purposefully bought a box set that only had the first season, to avoid the second season. I'd recommend the manga over the anime, but the anime (first season, at least) is still enjoyable.

Also noted. I'll check out the manga, and then maybe check out the anime whenever Discotek decides to release it.

Oooh, One Punch Man, yay! But since this sunday, my local comic shop has 60% off manga and trades, I'll wait until sunday to order it (see which vols they do or don't have first. Not a luxury I had during the last few weeks, but now, I can totally check them out first!) Still hoping for that Claymore massive manga set to go on sale too though. Also, I want Magi, Seraph of the End, World Trigger, Kamisama Kiss, and whatever else from Viz I collect (it's quite a lot, um... Master Keaton? I'm behind on collecting that one too)

Thanksgiving Day offerings have some stuff I could sample with Noucome, Kawai Complex Guide and Familiar of Zero's first season.

And is it just me or are all of today's Limited Time Offers Funimation titles? I notice there seems to be a great amount of holding back on offering up Funimation titles for the sales in place thus far for the Holiday Sale.
