The "All Ages" version on Steam has new scenes, is based on the JPN Vita version of the game (which had some small script changes from the original game - you'll have to search that information out, but I remember those changes being small from what I can recall people saying when I was trying to find out what those changes were earlier this year), and is only really missing the aforementioned "18+" scenes - characters still do and talk about the same things they did in the original game. If the "All Ages" version were to get rated by the ESRB, it would likely get a 'M' for Mature.

Why is that though? Why can't we have a ratings system for Steam that will allow the consumer to choose for themselves what they find appropriate and inappropriate? It's kinda sad that publishers have to alter the original if they want to put it on an international platform (governed by Western standards).

That's not the purpose of Steam. That's the purpose of your wallet. Your choice to buy or not to buy.

There's plenty of crap on Steam, but everyone's tastes are different. That is why I read the reviews and look at the negative and positive ratings.

That's the way the storefront market is. You often hear how companies had to censor something so they could avoid an AO rating, because most stores like Gamestop and Walmart will refuse to carry AO games so that means there would be no method to actually sell the game to people. Unlike in Japan where they have outlets, both storefronts and online, that sell AO games. You can buy tons of AO games on sites like DLsite even with an American credit card. I remember an amusing hentai parody of Final Fantasy 7 done in the Gyakuten Saiban/Phoenix Wright style of gameplay.

So I guess we can blame Gamestop for monopolizing the game industry and dictating how things work. We can also blame Steam for basically monopolizing PC games since every PC game is digital these days s as well since they won't stock AO games, which means nobody gets to make AO games here. Despite having an AO rating, I can't recall how often we ever actually see games here rated AO.

Anyways, lolis have no future in anime, games or otherwise, a year or two, and everything will stop even thinking of sexualizing a loli character, just like anime does.

I'm pretty sure the scene in question would been removed if the publisher had known about it. No pressure needed here.

Yay I know sekai project pretty well and A) given how many bugs/translation issues are in there games when they release...
This is totally something they would miss.
And B) they want to keep their 18+ material (or stuff referencing something like this) and the all ages stuff like clannad to be released by "totally different companies"

Honestly I would be very angry at the developer for putting something like this in the game without letting me know if I was sekai.

I watched Jim sterling play this "game" and to be frank it's a piece of shite. Regardless of the material Yohjo Simulator is a broken mess that tries to cash in on goat simulator's success and fails. It's not the most fleshed out game certainly. Though I think that is partially because it was released before it was really finished. Supposedly there are more updates to follow. Not quite sure what that entails however.

Isn't the job of the publisher to check the game for content and such? I'm sure the developer was given some guidelines(which I am not aware of what they say, but it could be the case that this particular thing doesn't break them given the implicit rather than explicit nature of the scene), but it's still the publishers job to check, right? They should only be upset about not checking out what is a pretty small and limited game has in it.

I doubt publishers are going to play hours upon hours of a game looking for a single scene or moment in the game, that they might consider objectionable. It is hard enough for normal people to finish games.

Yeah, I understand pulling something like that out. That shit tends to not fly over here, so I can see why they'd be scared to have something like that associated with their company. I will not miss the content, hell, I don't even care about this game.

I know but, this game in particular is rather small and aimless. That said though, it's still their responsibility ultimately, isn't it?

Probably but let's be honest here the game was made by one if not two people they knew it was in there, I would be ^$@# that they hide that from me when I am also a small operation.

It's the same deal with movies rated NC-17. If the MPAA gives a movie an NC-17, the filmmakers will do whatever they can to bring it down to R in nearly all cases, because a movie rated NC-17 cannot be advertised where those under 17 are likely to see the ad, and most movie theaters refuse to show NC-17 movies. We've had a few notable exceptions of the NC-17 rating, and its predecessor, the X rating though, like A Clockwork Orange, Midnight Cowboy, and This Film Is Not Yet Rated (which I'm sure was given the NC-17 because it was critical of the MPAA, and the MPAA put it on to keep it obscure).

Wait, so we're up in arms that they're removing a raped loli from the game; something that really should never have been there in the first place?

'Censorship' isn't the right word to describe that. The word we're looking for here is 'Improvement'.

Nobody force you to buy it, i like to play games as original as possible without any alteration, is my right to decide if i can or not play it. Removing content is censorship in my book, no matter the content.

I consider art absolute, expecially generated computer images and drawing, virtual characters have no human rights in the first place and don't resemble a true human being, so censoring doujinshi games is stupid and offensive.

Anyway i will never buy a game from this publisher anymore after what they said about this overreacting "issue".

While eating ramen in a 4 tatami apartment. Not many people buying the game. It's easy to tell someone else to sacrifice for their "art." If the author supports changing the game to earn more money, support the author too for the right to earn a better living.

Steam/Valve is a private company - they can do whatever they want within the laws for their own business. Other companies are free to establish their own game platform businesses with their own rules in the open marketplace.

Seems like a good way to make some cash. Make some dumb game, create a pointless controversy and play the poor censored victim and make a whole load of money off the people who will flock in to 'defend freedom of speech' for a game they wouldn't have even cared about otherwise. Laughing

There is no such thing as bad publicity.

Who's spineless? The fear of your product being seen by child pornography is very real.

Tecmo Koei we were talking about at the time. There is nothing in DOA Volleyball series. That is any worse then something like Senran Kagura.
