I've played a bit of the game and own the first two volumes of the manga in Japanese, so I'm excited to be able to add the English version to my collection. I love the characters and the art.

I purchased the book because I liked the cover art. (It reminded me a bit of Natsume's Book of Friends.) I had no idea what it would be about when I began to read. At first I thought it was going to be an atmospheric shonen ai type story about a young boy finding his "special someone", but my opinion soon changed. I love how the town creeps in and closes around both the protagonist and the reader; it reminded me a bit of Shiki in that regard.
I agree that parts of the story are VERY generic and, as an outside observer, I couldn't help but wonder why the main characters didn't ask more questions about what was going on around them. That said, I was pulled into the story and loved the details in the artwork as well as the claustrophobic setting. |

Oh I disagree, I think it's a beautiful title (one of this series' strengths). Akaya, Akashiya, Ayakashino can get you tongue-tied, but one only needs to hear the chorus of Akiko Shikata's gorgeous theme song 'Akakakushi' to learn to get the hang of it. And once you do you'd appreciate how musical it is. And the English, although simple in meaning, feels classic: the 'Of the...' form is a rather rarefied construction, and the balance of three parts gives it a stable rhythm. |

I had no idea this was a doujin game and that Akiko Shikata sang the opening either o_o. I think I'll have to check it out.
