AnimeNewsNetwork hasn't reported on this yet, but i thought that i'd put it here.

An Admin at the Adult Swim Message boards has just confirmed a few minutes ago that Adult Swim has gotten the rights to air the Death Note anime series.

Here is what the administrator said:

This is a great show and we're proud to present it on air as well as online.
It's first scheduled showing is Oct 20th at 12:00 a.m. so please don't miss it or you may find your name in a place you don't want it to be.

Pretty cool, huh? This is really exciting news. New anime on Adult Swim is always great news, but a highly popular series like Death Note is really amazing. Smile

Interesting. I've never watched this series -- and -- with it in the line-up -- I'll be watching it as I normally tune to AS. Midnight? It's time to cut into Inuyasha's air-time.

Actually, they'll either be moving or taking Bleach off to air Death Note, since Bleach airs at midnight on saturday nights. I think i heard something about Bleach needing more time to get episodes dubbed or something.

Personally, i think it's a mistake. Bleach + Death Note + Blood Plus = one amazing schedule, in my opinion. Those are three anime heavyweights, and having them there would boost Adult Swims ratings and gain new viewership like never before.

OH yeah! I've been hoping that it was death note.

I guess the only question now is how the dub is gonna be. I held off on watching fansubs, though, so I don't think I'll be biased when watching it.

Adult Swim might joke about not liking anime, but i don't believe it. Adult Swim is proud of showing anime, and it should be! It gained two hugely popular anime, Bleach and Death Note in a short amount of time. That's impressive.

And think about all the anime they have aiired so far! Ghost in the Shell (two seasons), Eureka Seven, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Trinity Blood, Blood+, InuYasha....the list goes on.

Yes, Adult Swim will always put more emphasis on its original Comedy...but that's only because it's original. Of course they're proud of what they create vs what comes from overseas.

While this is cool and all, I will miss Bleach. I was enjoying rewatching the series and it was just about to get to the meat of the Soul Society arc. Ah well.

CRAP.

I was not mentally prepared to hear this news. Do I squeal? Do I cry?

I think I'll scream.

EDIT: Oh crud. Does that mean the night of October 19 and morning of Oct 20? Or the night of Oct 20 and morning of Oct 21?

I think AS needs to adopt the more-than-24-hour system, and go with 24:00. Anime hyper
