I find it interesting that Akimoto already has 4 ideas for manga after ending a long-running series. He must've come up with them during the time when he was busy with Kochikame.

But I wonder why all 4 of his new manga are just starring females. Not trying to be sexist or anything.

So he's retiring from Kochikame...so he can draw even more? I'm not fully understanding this.

Also, we do need more female protagonists in shonen. There just aren't enough of them, though I'm sure female protagonists aren't as popular as male protagonists in the shonen demographic.

Finishing Kochikame was more like a 'I want to work on something different' thing than 'retire altogether' thing. And the combination of 40 year anniversary and 200 volumes made for a fantastic milestone to wrap up on.
