Loved 'Town of Evening Calm,' so when I read that they were making an anime adaption of another story of hers, I downloaded the manga from Bookwalker. So far it's excellent. I'm looking forward to the movie!

Out of all the WW2 events, the ones that stand out to me the most are the Holocaust followed by the Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima/Nagasaki bombings. This is why I think this is an important film.
