Main two sound a little off, but okay. And I love Dallas Reid, he always sounds so cute <3

Not some of Funi's best dubbing.

That solves the mystery of how they they'd dub Chitanda's "watashi kininarimasu" to match the lip flaps. That part sounds fine to me. I really hope they kept "I'm curious" in the official subs, though. That line's become so iconic that I suspect a big part of the Hyouka fan base would riot if it got changed.

Sentai actors go back and forth from Funi all the time and vice versa. |

Yep. The actors are all freelance, so it is up to them if they want to make the trip between Dallas and Houston. Jad Saxton has been showing up in a number of recent Sentai dubs, and I would guess that since Sentai hasn't licensed a lot of shows in recent seasons, some actors from Houston might be looking to branch out. |

Thanks, Reabo101 for the link!
There're two things that don't sound ok to me: first ia Chitanda's voice, which for some reason sounds a little restrained in contrast with her Japanese counterpart. It's a little stiff? But I guess I'd get used to it with time, as with Oreki' voice. The other thing that I didn't like is how they overpronounce OREKI, especially Mayaka whose voice along with Satoshi's sounds actually pretty nice! So yeah, I don't have high expectations about the dub, but I'm happy is getting one anyway. Some people will be looking forward to that. |

Yeah, I don't get this either. I thought it sounded good, and the voices sound very similar to the Japanese, especially the main two. The biggest criticism I can give, is that Eru's voice, in trying to emulate the seiyuu's performance, sounds the most artificial in comparison to the other more natural sounding voices heard in the trailer. But I appreciate Mike McFarland casting younger, less experienced actors in the main cast instead of going with the tried and true. I think this dub will turn out to be very good. Okay FUNimation, you've kept us waiting long enough; now where's the dub trailer for Code Geass: Akito the Exiled? Last edited by Raebo101 on Fri Apr 28, 2017 11:07 am; edited 1 time in total |

I watched the trailer, and they sounded pretty good to me. I wanted Sentai to license Hyouka because they have recently produced strong dubs for KyoAni shows, but it looks like Funimation knows how to handle it.

Wow. This is pretty cool. Cast wise. I assume Mike is helping Cris on the side. But if he had more say in the cast, I wonder if Mike was looking at Adam cause of his Parasyte work, or word from other actors Ala David Matranga or Emily Neves. But I guess he just auditioned there normally. This is pretty different from his usual performances. The more Houston talent in Dallas the better. And vise versa to mix the pot.
But I do agree the main female lead is restraining herself a bit. Reid seems to be trying to hard when a safer more consistent choice would be Greg Ayres since the Japanese seiyuu played sunohara in clannad and satoshi. But I assume he's to busy or the dubbing process was sped up. I'll wait for more since this could end decent or bad. Maybe if there weren't 2 of each director or writers |

Definitely enjoyed this trailer and the VAs they cast! I'm so pumped to own this series.
btw, I believe there was a small typo with Satoshi's name:

Ok so i'm no expert when it comes to dubbing or anything. I basically never watch dubbed versions...
But the voice acting itself isn't the absolute worst i've ever heard. My problem is that they changed the music! I checked it against the original version and the background music has been swapped around. Still using tracks from the show but for example in the second scene they show it is meant to be silent but they added in background music. And the first scene has completely different music. I hope this is for the purposes of this short video only... Because otherwise they have made a horrible mistake. |

^ They never change the music. If anything sounds different, it's only for the purpose of the trailer.
