I'm disappointed that Squid Girl is only available as a complete collection. I already own Media Blasters release of season 1. Oh well, I can live with it in DVD, so I suppose in some future Sentai sale...

So it's been a while since I posted here, but Squid Girl quickly became one of my favorite shows.
Any word on if they got the same dub cast for season 2/OVA? I really hope so! |

Man, kind of a shame on Mezzo Forte there. I actually think the version editing out the pointless sex scenes is fantastic and it has a dub too! This version is sub only when I know a dub exists of it! Wonder if they'll ever release just the straight up action flick version with dub or if it's just to remain out of print forever then.

It says English & Japanese with Subtitles. It also says 625 minutes. So I'm sure both seasons (and OVA) got dubbed. I'm just hoping they used Bang Zoom to do the 2nd season/OVA (cause that's who did the first). |

@ EricDent: you may very well be right, but don't be shocked if the second seasons and OVAs haven't been dubbed. Since the first season has been, they can claim that there is English as a spoken language available, but that doesn't mean that is true for all 625 minutes.

Any reason why Mezzo Forte doesn't retain its English dub? Not trying to come off as nitpicky. But I recall this same issue coming up with a few past releases Sentai did with license rescued titles like Black Magic M-66 that did have English dubs made for their original releases.

This is the longer version of Mezzo Forte with the sex/torture scene in it. You will note that it is being issued under the SoftCel label that they use for hentai. The dubbed version is only 55 minutes long. |

I'm aware this is the hentai version. However, said hentai version also had an English dub made for it that was retained for the edited version, minus the mentioned naughty scenes. |

No clue, but it would be cool if they decided to re-dub it with Luci Christian as the MC. Along with the rest of the dub cast from Mezzo DSA if possible. Maybe the original dub is owned by somebody else, and they didn't want to pay for it? I would guess that's why they went back and re-dubbed stuff like Vampire Hunter D & Appleseed? |

But unless they have specifically stated somewhere that they have dubbed season 2 and the OVAs, it's not a blatant lie. The set includes English & Japanese with subtitles. The set is 625 minutes long. Both of those are true statements. However, they are both true even if the only spoken English exists in season 1. I agree that is a "letter of the law" approach as opposed to a "spirit of law" approach. I hasten to add that I don't know one way or the other. I'm just pointing out that the two things EricDent mentioned don't in and off themselves guarantee that season 2 and the OVAs have received dubs. |
