I was expecting BONES to get s2 actually with Shingo Natsume returning. J.C. are a pretty decent substitute, especially since their visual style and shading matches the one Madhouse has pretty closely. The lack of Natsume might already make this a massive downgrade unless talent literally comes over and begs to work on this. I always thought it was a miracle s1 happened the way it did, with all that talent...

Studio's don't matter as much as people would like to think, though.

Yes but Natsume was the reason the staff went to Madhouse to do the first season

It doesn't look good to me going from a historical great studio like Madhouse to J.C. Staff, which does solid, but often dull animation. Good thing I am not a big OPM fan because I would be pissed with the studio downgrade. And wasn't this second season supposed to air this year?

Eh, Madhouse is a shell of its former self after a lot of their talent left to form MAPPA, VOLN, and NuT.

Why couldn't it have gone to Bones? They have both the experience and the talent to adapt ONE's manga as show by their excellent job with Mob Psycho 100.

I was not aware that so many talent has left. But I am technically right because Madhouse is a historical great studio.

One Punch Man season 1 regardless of if people love it or hate it I think many can agree that it was well made, it hit all the right notes perfectly with tone and animation. So it's worrisome to see the staff change on the second season, however I'll remain hopeful that they can do it justice and I'll try to watch it with an open mind.

MADHOUSE is forever cursed in making a new season. Hopefully they making Overlord Season 2 because is very rarely that MADHOUSE ever make a sequel or new season.

I don't recall any official time frame being announced, only that a second series was coming.

Perhaps there was some confusion with the smartphone app that was announced at the same time (and that was announced as coming in 2017):
