This one might be a bit too generic.

I worried that might be the case but figured that people who've seen the source material would recognize it for what it is. Should I replace the quote or try to narrow it down with hints?

This one is generic enough to warrant replacing.
Alternatively, you could expand the quote by adding a couple more lines to either side.

I'll replace it, apologies.
New quote from official subs:
A: "No...I just wanted to save x."
B: "Perhaps. But that caused this."
A: "No...How was I supposed to know!? It's all too much! I can't do anything about this!"

"This" is a mass extinction event that A is more or less responsible for.

Was gonna wait for more hints before trying this but might as well go for it.
Is this Shinji's reactions to Kaworu showing him the destroyed world from Evangelion 3.xx?

Neat. I'd say his responsibility for it is on the 'less' side since he caused psudo-Third Impact. The real Third Impact that killed everyone else was a separate event that involved Lilith and the two lances.
Sub:
"From tomorrow, I'll be alone. I'll be all alone... I'm so scared! The truth is, I've been scared this whole time. But... But... I don't regret anything at all! I can't! Because... what I did was definitely not wrong!"

Hint #1: The speaker had helped her friend who was being bullied.

Hint #2: Her friend eventually moved away because of it, and because the speaker had physically attacked the bully she is now the next target.

Surprised this one has not gone yet. I will assume it is Hinata talking to Rei from March comes in line a lion. Her shoe got thrown away after hitting the bully so she had to walk home in one of the schools shoewear and was balling when she got home. Cannot remember if the quote was said to her family or to Rei after she ran for a bit to stop her family being upset.

It's the latter.
But yeah, I thought it'd go fast. The episode only aired 2 weeks ago and it's probably one of the most emotionally powerful moments of the season.

I hated the MC so much that I never made it past episode 2 for that show, much less make it to season 2.

Was it because his mopeyness hit too close to home or because you found it unrelatable?

Mostly the latter, I think? I just found the whole first episode depressing and joyless in a non-entertaining way and the MC utterly uninteresting. Didn't care for the visual aesthetic, either.
