I find the Japanese versions of Cowboy Bebop and Yu Yu Hakusho to be underrated. Sure the dubs for them are not bad, but people should not over look the Japanese versions of these shows.

Eh, I tried Japanese YYH and I definitely like the dub better. Mainly for Justin Cook's Yusuke...it's like he gives him more of an attitude or something....and I like that. xD The female characters are definitely better subbed....but meh. I admit Genkai is jarring BECAUSE ALL I CAN HEAR IS FREIZA. And I hate that guy. >_> lol

Bebop....I don't care enough about to hunt down the Japanese one....*hides from Bebop fans*

If you’re the type of person who’s watching an anime season and complaining that it’s a disappointing one only because of it having only, say, 6 shows you’re interested in watching (and provide no other reason), then you simply need to find more hobbies. Even if you already have several, does a season seriously need more than that number that you enjoy to be considered “good”? Doesn’t matter if you’ve enjoyed all 6 (or anything around that number) anime greatly, it’s only 6, so the season arbitrarily becomes disappointing for some people. Rolling Eyes I’ve only watched 6 shows in both the Summer and Fall 2017 seasons respectively and I’d say that they were pretty solid seasons. I’ve seen this type of complaint appear in some parts of the internet recently and it doesn’t sit right with me, partly due to some people making this hobby sounding more and more like a second job. Hell, even finding only 3 shows to watch in a season to watch, if you enjoy them, I consider that to still be a decent season.

Agreed. Anime hyper I don't think this would be an unpopular thought.

Rather, if I was following six anime every season, I'd feel a little overwhelmed with keeping track of what happens to who in what show...

I think people don't give the genres hentai, yuri, yaoi & doujinshi as much credit as they deserve.

To be fair, it is porn and/or stuff that panders to people's fetishes. It's never going to be a high art form. Anime hyper

Though lots of people think doujinshi is ONLY porn....well....heaps a heaving stack of books from her shelf* Here's a whole bunch that proves that is indeed not the case.

Doujinshi can actually be about anything.

Plenty of reasonable opinions here)
There are many formulaic anime series, but frankly, I like a good working formula.

Fushigi Yuugi is an achievement in animation, and the greatest work that the shoujo genre has ever offered. I can't stress this enough. Everyone should hunt this anime/manga down and experience it immediately.

LOUIS!!! DON'T TROLL PEOPLE!!! Laughing

What if some poor unsuspecting soul believes you!? Nobody deserves that.... Sad

Grave of the Fireflies is not interested in telling a good story. It's only interested in making the viewer feel terrible.

I personally feel like Rurouni Kenshin is not the best Samurai anime and manga and I do think it's overrated. I do think Rurouni Kenshin is a pretty good series, but I do feel like that there is better Samurai titles out there. I still say that Lone Wolf and Cub is the best Samurai manga ever and one of the best live action Samurai film not from Akira Kurosawa. Lone Wolf and Cub is a good example that comics/manga can be view as literature and high art.

Not to mention I like other Samurai titles like Lady Snowblood, Dororo, Vagabond, Shigurui, Blade of the Immortal, Samurai Executioner, Path of the Assassin and Sword of the Stranger over Kenshin. I like those titles better because they have more darker and mature themes compare to Rurouni Kenshin in my opinion.

I find Samurai Executioner even better than Lone Wolf and Cub.

Very unpopular opinion: American anime exists; and the good news: more and more people are accepting that fact.

Is this an unpopular opinion? I categorize Boondocks, Teen Titans, Avatar, and the new Voltron as American Anime.

Puh-leeze, "American Anime" is a complete oxymoron. Rolling Eyes

The only title I can think of that can be described as that would be The Last Unicorn. The original language was always English...but all the animators were Japanese.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Unicorn_(film)#Production

It's an interesting hybrid.

I'd argue that this is an anime discussion. The topic of "Should American Anime count" is a serious topic. Things like the new Voltron and Avatar: The Last Airbender scratch the same itch that anime does, yet some places don't allow for discussion of it due to their country of origin being America.

Keep in mind, season 2 of Big O is technically an American Anime.

The American anime discussion is fine. I deleted a post about mahjong. I realise only now that my post was ambiguous. Sorry about that.
