After watching Yamato 2199 and Gundam: Origin, I think I'd really like to see a reboot/remake of Galaxy Express 999 done with modern animation. Maybe not a remake of the whole 113 episode original series, but certainly a 1 or 2 cour series.

The guy playing Tetsuro is older than the actress playing Maetel.

I look at Haruka as Maetel and it occurs to me that Cate Blanchette would make a perfect Maetel.
