Yikes. Hiro sounds like a 40 year old man.

Never knew Tia could go that low with her voice, pretty impressive. Also surprising to see Bryson Baugus in a Funimation dub; good for him.

Are you kidding? He sounds nothing close to 40, and the actor probably isn't even 30 yet. Confused

Actually, Matt turned 25 back on 8/25.

Have no idea how you know that unless you just camped out on his Twitter or something.

Anyway he sounded perfectly fine to me from the clip.

I agree and let's face it, both Matt and the Japanese VA for Hiro are pretty much the same age, so don't be tryna to pull out opinions that we been knew.

Also, I'm loving the casting for this show and looking forward to what happens next!

@Punch Drunk Marc: Matt's ANN Encyclopedia entry. has his age listed as "XXXX-08-19". However, his IMDb lists 1992 as the spec. year. Then again, that site has been wrong about a celebrity's birth date before.

I've been impressed with Matt Shipman ever since I heard his "Shay" voice in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V dub. Hands down the best performance of the entire dub, and he managed it in spite of the show being heavily edited and suffering from poor script localization. Can't wait to hear what he's capable of in an uncut, faithful dub.

I am aware that Matt Shipman is not an old guy, but with his delivery he makes Hiro sound way older than a teenager; the character does not sound right. I actually want this dub to be good because I plan to buy the disc release if I keep liking the show.

Could've fooled me. But if that's really true, then maybe you should actually give it a chance? Neutral

Just a suggestion.

Why would I lie? Disliking a dub clip does not automatically make me a dub hater. If I buy the BD's, I will probably give the dub a shot, but the MC sounding like a grown up man is worrisome.

He does sound a little older when we hear his thoughts, but when actually talking, he sounds younger

Tried watching the first episode dubbed, but I couldn't go through with it. Very disappointed with it to be honest. Never been impressed with Clifford Chapin's ADR directing, so I'll be sticking with the sub for this show. I echo @angelmcazares' concern regarding Hiro's voice. He sounds way older than he should be for a teenage protagonist. While the original Japanese voice actor sounds closer to a teenager, his voice isn't perfect either because it sounds like your generic, bland male anime protagonist.
