I'm glad to see Makoto Shinkai isn't a stick in the mud like some famous directors in the anime industry are.

If Maquia will be nominated at the Academy Awards or Oscars for Best Animated Feature Film by next year (win or loose, just don't get snub!) then this movie is better than Your Name.

This (Okada) story premise sounds heartbreaking. I was surprised by how much Benjamin Button was such a terrible movie, and Okada's inconsistency makes me nervous on this one. However, under the premise of heartbreaking, gut-wrenching, aching loneliness, Shinkai would be the guy to ask.

I was thinking something similar: both Okada and Shinkai sure love melodrama!
