Don't people typically complain about Funimation's simuldubs for taking liberties with the translation? So I'm not sure why people are suddenly concerned Steins Gate will be the exception to the rule or why people suddenly are ok with Funimation taking liberties with Steins Gate but are outraged when Funimation does it for other dubs?

This isn't the first show that had this happen. Tales of zesteria had the same thing happen.

Unless my memory is incorrect, it is the only show where that was true, and it was a split cour show whose first half began airing in the summer before the partnership was announced in September.

Given they have only announced a single dubcast thus far, you appear to be assuming much.

Your Akito example doesn't work since they hired a LA studio for those guys and it's the same one they currently use for Dragon Ball Super.

Whose to says they couldn't do the same with a Houston studio?

There's like one show a year that some people get overly bent out of shape about. It's not as big an issue as you're implying.

I'm just not sure why people think Steins Gate being a simuldub would somehow effect them being able to make a liberal dub when it doesn't seem to be an issue for their other shows. In regards to the license announcements, has there been any word if Funimation or Sentai will license GeGeGe no Kitaro? I've been really looking forward to that series and I would be disappointed if it didn't get licensed.

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. also went for another cour on Funimation and Daisuki after the partnership.

Thanks for calling that to my attention.

Both streaming on Daisuki would have further complicated matters. I remember when I watched Tales of Zestiria the X on Funimation as the home video became available, each episode was preceded with a Daisuki logo, which would appear to indicate they were the master licensee.

Saiki didn’t have the Daisuki logo, at lest on the shorts.

I just checked, and none on the long version, either.

By the way, you should trim the irrelevant parts (e.g.., responses to other people or on unrelated topics) out of your quotes when responding, so as not to unnecessarily clutter the forum.

Spring 2018 is looking a lot like fall 2017. So many awesome shows.

No doubts in my mind that Funi was going to dub DxD Hero, FMP & Steins;Gate (DxD is a money maker for them... highly promoted at every con). Kinda surprised that they were able to wrestle away the rights for Legend of Galatic Heroes from HiDive.

I count 17 dubs not bad but considering that there are going to be 50 shows available the number seems low. Hopefully HiDive picks up a few more (Food Wars Season 3 part 2 PLEASEEEEE) to have a great dub year.

I'm worried about Victory, I thought Sentai would pick it up, like how Funimation rescued the first season Utawarerumono after ADV went under, and Sentai dubbed the sequels. Chris did say once in an interview that he though Funi would farm out the dub to Sentai, https://youtu.be/Dp88GDEDNIM?t=3m2s but I doubt that will happen sadly.

I suppose Chris, Luci, Monica, Allison Keith and Vic will undoubtedly make it back. I really hope they get Hillary back, and then there are all the others, but I guess a few changes to minor characters wouldn't matter.

Super glad about 2202. Hopefully the movies get licensed as well, at least Ark of the Stars because I heard somewhere that it's a bit necessary for knowing how they came across the Gatlanteans.

So Tiramisu appears to be 10 min an ep, according to AniDB. They might have 2 more shows to announce, possibly at one of the 3 cons this weekend

Can't wait to see Golden Kamuy so I'm really glad that was on the list as getting one. Super hyped for it from the trailers and people saying the source is good.

And very curious about who's going to be in the Legend of Galatic Heroes dub cast and how it's going to sound.

Like others I especially really hope they do get the FMP voice cast back from ADV/Sentai, they're so good and it's another of the iconic dubs. Hopefully they do indeed work with Sentai to get it dubbed if needed to get the main cast back.
Funi's one of my favs when it comes to dubs and they've been pretty good with outsourcing good dubs in good spots recently, so I think we have a relatively decent shot, but I guess we'll see.

Just noticed that it was going to be "shorts" myself, I'm surprised and kind of disappointed since the trailer looked like a full size show (even if it was pretty coy with the comedy at first).

Agreed, they usually have another couple that they announce separately so it wouldn't be too much a stretch.

Same here! Glad to get the sequel confirmed as I loved the first season and will have now watched it twice in dub and sub, and yeah one (I think the other is the recap movie?) of the two movies is new stuff that I think explains that spoiler[during their trip back to Earth].
