I should have seen it coming. This reeks of the Japanese studio looking to insist LoGH will be just as valuable a property here as in Japan.

I hope clearer minds will eventually prevail. I love LoGH, but I’m holding out for a less expensive release.

For the amount of content, the price really isn't that bad.

But my god, that box is ridiculous. I guess you could take the digipaks out to shelve, but then you still have a giant damn box sitting around or headed to the trash.

At long last. Hopefully they also make LOGH available for streaming.

How the hell is it that in the year 2018, Japanese production companies have apparently still not grasped that the western home video market is vastly different from their own?

Any word on whether TRSI will carry this, or is it exclusive to Sentai's store? I'm willing to pay $800, but Sentai seems to charge preorders at the time of order, and I won't have that kind of cash available for another couple months.

It's a Sentai store exclusive.

Well, guess I'll just have to hope they don't sell out before May. They could have at least delayed opening the preorders, so that people could have a chance to get their finances in order.

I Just tried to pre-order and it seems they don’t ship outside the U.S.

What a limited and short sighted way to conduct business.

Probably has to do with new LOGH season coming out in Japan. Best guess is they don't want people reverse importing the US sets when the more expensive Japanese re-releases have either just recently been released or will be in the near future.

No shipping outside US.
No standard box planned.

Whoever ordered this can officially call themselves snowflakes now, Sentai really went all out making logh to be some sort of premium item.

All this negativity toward the price of the LotGH set is breaking my anime fan heart a little. People have been pleading for a physical release for decades, and now that it is here $5 per episode is extortion. No company should charge less than $500 for these many episodes. Anime is a business, not charity.

If this is going to be the reaction by fans, I advice all companies to never again license long and old titles because apparently FANS ARE UNWILLING TO PAY MORE THAN $2 PER EPISODE.

2. The $800 box set sells out quickly. Sentai sees the potential for profit in the show was more than they had estimated and schedules standard releases.

I also think that could happen.
