It's in keeping with the specific Magical Girl shows the series is closest to - the Studio Pierrot Magical Girls. Which I guess now includes Magical Girl Ore. Specifically, it's Creamy Mami, the show that gets explicitly called out on more than one occasion. In Mami, the heroine ages up from 10 to 16 in her magical girl idol form which makes her more attractive to the love interest character. The joke here is that the forms that are deemed more attractive to the various love interests are hunky men rather than a teenage girl (this is made clear in the episode where Sakuyo realises her Magical Girl form has her brother's face, thus making her more attractive to Saki). So in its own way it's still obeying the rules of Pierrot's specific corner of the Magical Girl genre. |
