@Mune
I think the officials did check with Swiss law and determined he didn't break any, as implied from the source article:
Quote: | It seems that after Melonpan exhaustively pleaded his case, someone in charge eventually admitted that no living people were harmed in the making of hentai |

It's silly to get in a tiff over fiction. If we ban books or movies for depicting actions that are harmful and/or illegal irl, the entertainment industry will go bankrupt because whatever's left will be boring as shit.

Dear ANN editors, why your article's title is misrepresentative? I mean, you wrote yourself:
Quote: | however on August 18 he shared images of his original box of hentai on his desk at home, having won over customs agents and allowed to bring his purchase into the country. |
yet your article title claims that it was confiscated.

It was confiscated for several days. He had to had to report in to get it back. Confiscated means it was seized, it doesn't necessarily mean seized forever.

Eeeh, even if it's not underaged, porn crossing borders is often something restricted. One of my comic artist acquaintances couldn't bring their NSFW comics over the US-Canadian border when they went to a comic festival in Canada, and I've heard stories of NSFW comics getting confiscated going the other way as well.

I don't really like porn....but confiscating someone's porn is just dumb....when they are fictional characters.

Loli hentai is basically child porn. Good riddance to him then. If he's that stupid he deserves what comes to him. |
Yet people still sexualized many fictional characters that are underage. Look over on tumblr and a lot of other sites that have smut fanart of the students in boku no hero academia. Even with the West, people sexualize Dipper from Gravity Falls, characters from voltron, etc. If you think that Loli is child porn then all of the smut fanart I have said of these fandoms are just as bad and no one says anything about it.
People preach that lolis are terrible and then just one picture of a loli is automatically child porn. When a picture of Deku is in any smut fanart then everyone goes about how great it is. They are just as bad. It's utter hypocrisy.
Personally, I don't care about loli hentai. If it's not hurting anyone. If they aren't touching any child in any way. If they know the difference between RL and the fictional world then that's fine. They aren't hurting anyone. If it is personally affecting you then tell how it is and how it is harming you.

It's called Virtue signalling a lot of it goes on these days They're A-OK with movies like IT but when it comes to things like Comic LO they lose their minds. That also seems to be an issue that's been discussed here previously in regards to Sex vs Violence in Animé which saw a lot of high horsing and Virtue signalling.
