Well, this is awkward. The actual Sound! Euphonium series not being dubbed, but it's movies are. Hopefully there isn't too much continuity so non-fans won't be confused.

I can only wish they'd go back and dub the series because of this, but it's likely never going to happen since PonyCan is still insisting on those ridiculously barebones $100 sets for season 2.

I would like to hope the Euphonium TV series will eventually get an English dub, and the movie cast is the one they'll use.

I love everyone in the cast...except Laurie Hymes. Seriously, Hymes? Whose voice for Lillie in the Pokemon Sun/Moon anime is terrible? Eh, for all I know, she'll probably do much better in this, since this might be directed by competent people who know what they're doing. I really hope the dub is good.

Would this film be worth watching if I’ve never seen Hibike?

How bizzare the movie (the first at least) is getting a dub while the series isn't. Generally I'm all for dubbing, most of the time they're good anyway and if they're not the original is always there but I actually doubt I could watch Eupho dubbed. I think the Japanese cast is just too perfect and no dub could ever do it any justice, especially Kurosawa as Kumiko. I hate to think all her cute verbal tics would be lost in transition.

Possibly? The movie is about a couple of side characters from the series so you'd probably be able to jump in just fine. But I haven't seen Liz and the Blue Bird and it doesn't look like it's hitting my area this time (shocking we've gotten many Eleven Arts titles).

This is really bizarrely last minute. The theaters that are showing the dubs are so random it makes me think they are going to announce more. My subtitle-adverse husband would really appreciate a dubbed showing, but of course I already bought our tickets in advance. Maybe I'll luck out and it'll be dubbed.

Wonder how likely it's gonna be for Ponycan to actually go back and dub seasons 1-2 now. I'm probably not gonna watch this until I've actually watched S1 and S2.
Quote: | The film focuses on flutist Nozomi Kasaki and oboist Mizore Yoroizuka, the characters who were also the focus of the Sound! Euphonium 2 anime's first half. |
Here's some bad news for those that haven't actually watched the TV series - you're probably gonna hop into the movie and be like, "Who the hell are these girls, and why are we missing so much context?"

I may be in the minority here but I feel the casting and voice direction for NYAV Post dubs have been very hit and miss within the last two to four years. It just doesn't communicate on such an effortless basis as it once did for dubbing productions like Berserk and Gundam Unicorn. I know the NYAV Post team are trying with these casts but just aren't resonating with some of the dubbing audience like their dubbing productions once did in previous years. Liz and the Blue Bird cast being a prime example of the phenomenon I speak of.

Very much disagreed. You've never even heard how this dub would turn out, so how would you know how it'd go in this case? Their Your Name and A Silent Voice dubs are phenomenal, too. So I simply don't know what the heck you're talking about.
Also, regarding people that are whining that Laurie Hymes got cast, did you know that her real specialty is lower pitched voices? She was great as the teacher in the Fireworks dub. Just because Laurie wasn't great as Lillie, that doesn't mean she's a bad VA. She was just simply miscast as Lillie.
Don't knock the dub 'til you heard it. It's not fair that y'all are whining about it before you've even watched it yourself.

I agree. I've watched many anime subbed but when a dub for the anime releases after I completed it, I watch it dubbed to see how good it sounds, and it almost always sounds good, and sometimes, way better than the original!
