I think it's safe to say we finally have a straight-forward yuri title we can confidently recommend for anyone looking for a yuri anime to watch. Yeah, it's a bit of a slow-burn beginning, but MAN does it succeed in having complex main leads, and a surprisingly strong supporting cast; we have a freakin' lesbian adult couple and a perceptive dude who's willing to respect Yuu's and Touko's space.

Really let's cherish Bloom into You as long as possible because who knows when is the next time we're getting a yuri anime TV series of this caliber again. Unless someone adapts Milk Morinaga's Girl Friends or there's an anime original series in the horizon that ends up being full yuri.

Oh pray for a S2 since that would guarantee the play. Anime hyper

If there were a S2, it would be kind of anticlimatic to have an arc's climax right at the start.
Although I don't know if it could be helped? It just didn't match well for any kind of adaptation - they covered about 24 chapters and it was 7 more until the end of the arc with two of them, those being the play itself, being double the usual in length.

Needless to say, the scene in the courtyard where they improvised a play was anime original content, a poor man's way of presenting the core of the play when they couldn't get to the play itself.
Of course it means it briefly displayed the message of the play but not its heart, catharsis and consequences. And well, whenever it's animated (or for a newcomer who goes from this to the manga) the climax of the play will have less impact since they pretty much told us the important concepts and lines already. But it would have been worse to have nothing at all for this last episode.

Boy, I would love to see somebody try and get that on TV. Both in the sense that I really liked the manga and the sense that I feel adapting it would be difficult Razz

Instead of "climax" at the start, I see the play more like "the inciting incident".
Playing the play now is just a formality. Things changed and now what comes after the play became more importantly for the main trio.

This seasons started presenting Yuu, her drama and her goal.
This seasons shows Yuu dealing with her drama and ended with her achieving her goal.
Let's not forget, the main character here is Yuu, that couldn't love. Yuu that now loves Touko.
