I quite enjoyed this manga volume as well. The author's works have a reputation of being on the pervy side, but this one was just a nice, innocent, low-key rom-com.

As you described, it wasn't until Haru was fleshed out more in the second volume did I begin to enjoy reading Ojojojo. I'm not much of a fan of four-koma manga, but the high watermark for me is Azumanga Daioh and this comes no where near the hilarity of that masterpiece. Yet, it's the slow burn of their relationship that kept me interested and will most certainly purchase the second omnibus of this quirky comedy.
