Oh wow, that's young. What was the cause of death?
Kujaku-Oh was a pretty cool OVA series and I wish there would have been more.
From what I've seen of the manga, it was even crazier. There were two live action movies made in Hong Kong, but they weren't as good.

Wow. The 80's and 90's come together in such a way bringing forth some notable creator gems. I seem to remember this cover. But then every 80's 90 work is something nostalgic to me. My late friend joked about how movies like these taught him what he coined, "Buddhist hand-jive".

R.I.P Makoto Ogino. You'll be sorely missed.

Isn't Kujaku-oh the manga upon which a Sega Master System game that was called Spellcaster in the west was based?

RIP.

ADDENDUM: Mystic Defender on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive was also based on Kujaku-oh, although, if I remember correctly, that one didn't have the pseudo-RPG segments that the Master System game had featuring close-up shots of the characters that I presume appear in the manga (or at least the OVA based on the manga).
