Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. I hope downloaders are proud of themselves. If the industry goes bankrupt, there won't be anything to download. Try to remember that. Shocked

Who else has that ominous feeling that the anime equivalent of armageddon lingers just beyond the horizon? For us westerners atleast.

The most important part of the animedvd article hasn't been quoted though:

Quote:
TOKYOPOP Germany has been behind the times though by continuing to release eight volume series at higher prices for 24-26 episode shows and even released Petite Cossette on three volumes with only one episode per volume.

Ah, an example of shrewd marketing...if you want to go bust, apparently.

And so, by all means, download the stuff illegally, since that's the best way to get prices reduced. Either pay nothing or pay too much, nothing at all in between is allowed. Rolling Eyes

Releasing three dvds with one episode each is pretty freakin' funny, though. Not exactly the A+ sort of business plan/

Rozen Maiden = kiss of death?

EDIT: And to add on to the "too many DVDs" thing, they're selling on Amazon.de for over $30US each.

Right now, they are releasing Loveless on 3 DVDs (4 episodes included) for 19,99 €.

They also lowered the prices for the SR DVDs, but that didn't help much either.

I like how you jumped to conclusions without me saying anything. Simply, blaming ALL on the downloads isn't the real answer. Poor marketing choice is to blame as well.

Wow, and some people are wondering why they're in trouble. No wonder customers weren't willing to pay for that. (Disclaimer: I condemn "why buy when you can download it for free" mentality as much as the next intelligent person. But for chrissakes, 3-1 eps/volume, for "higher prices"? I'd rather download the show, too.)

Not enough people are buying expensive DVDs. Too many people are downloading free fansubs. What can we do?

Hey, let's make it impossible for people to buy the expensive DVDs. We'll stop selling them entirely, so that free fansubs become the only way to get this material at all. That's sure to teach those pirates a lesson!
