While I'd love to see it make the short list, there is 6 Disney-backed films and 1 jointly backed by Disney there which will tie up most of that list, so not holding my breath...

With what I'm seen so far in terms of the awards season (a couple of Visual Effects nods in critics awards; an Annie nomination, which would definitely help its chances), I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up getting nominated (I'm seeing at least making the bake-off).

Honestly, I think this has a decent shot of at least being nominated. The Lion King, 1917, and possibly The Irishman are probably the biggest competition.

I doubt the Academy would go for it; those eyes are just too off-putting for the common man. I really want it to be Endgame, but knowing the Academy it will probably be either The Irishman or (sigh) The Lion King. Star Wars and Ad Astra will probably fill out the rest of the list.

They may have bought the rights along with Fox, but the ones who made real bank off it were those before the sale. Disney will push one of its own more than something others made before

Kind of sad how "Alita" was the last film for the Fox Empire as we knew them and what closed off 106 years of Fox film history before that lame Disney-Fox merger.
