Well, it's still streaming on Wakanim in Europe, with English subs, so it's still legally streamed someplace...

As I also suspected, Madman's AnimeLab usually does Funimation's stream in Australia, and at least for now they still have Interspecies Reviewers.

I would like to think it being one of the most discussed series this season, as long as directed at correct audiences, I think it is silly to give up this.

Well, I was watching the illegal uncensored version anyway, so I will still be discussing it in the series discussion area.

Good that it's airing in other regions(for now, at least), but, I really have to ask,
How the heck can they air this in Australia considering some previous cases there involving cartoon pornography? Is the entire stream blacked out?

Funimation can GF itself. I support their right to make content decisions, but how the hell could they not know? I mean it is right there on the tin in OP/ED.

I assume that Funi (or anyone really) doesn't get the episode until a few days before it airs, only enough time to do subtitles. From what I've heard, the anime is much more explicit than the manga. People deciding licences probably didn't believe that the anime would go as far as it does.

I went back and looked at the 2 PVs and it should be pretty obvious to anyone in the industry that they would go there based on the animated ahegao cuts.

Anyway, what is done is done. The question is if and then when HiDive will pick this up. I assume it could take time to transfer the license, so I guess simulcast is done either way. I hope Theron leaves these reviews in place and treat it like a dropped stream.

That's actually entirely Zac and/or Lynzee's call. I can only say that I'd be willing to continue doing episode reviews if it gets picked up by another legal streaming service, but I'll be a little surprised if that happens.

Re-watching episode 2 this weekend I noticed that there is a BUCK-TICK fan out there.
The succubus election program "1: Sex, 2: Sex, 3, 4: Skip, 5: Sex" is a clear reference to the "Iconoclasm" song lyrics:

One for the Money
Two for the X
Um… Skip a three and four
Five for Japanese Babies

See https://sites.google.com/site/lyricsyndrome/lyrics/buck-tick/iconoclasm for the full lyrics, which contains barely more text. I often wonder if the song started out as a joke, but it's become one of there more iconic song. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7KhMnLAr1g for a decent video of it in one of their concerts.

I'm kinda surprised that not more people call this "Konosuba, but with sex". Especially when I think we're not supposed to like these characters (Except Crim), which means that we really need the It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia jokes to thrive here.

It might be accidental, but it's also a facet which may be helping to shield this title from some of the harsher criticism that ultra-ecchi titles commonly get.

I don't know, I think that we sometimes forget that many of the people who object to media depictions of sex don't particularly care about whether those depictions are sex-positive. It doesn't make the show any less "indecent" in their eyes. For every site like AnimeFeminist, you have tons of people like the Parents Television Council, who didn't file complaints alleging that Glee endorsed and encouraged "public masturbation" because they were concerned about stuff like consent. Laughing

It is also clearly getting some to watch who might not touch fare like this normally, and that's not a bad thing at all.

Yeah, it has me wondering how many people weren't watching these shows specifically because of the lack of consent?

They're streaming the Japanese TV version with an R18+ rating. (By comparison, they have High School DxD uncensored with an MA15+.) Interestingly, when I clicked on the actual episode, it asked me to verify I was 15 or older. Confused

How'd this episode managed to get reviewed after Funimation dropped it?

I also have a feeling if stuff like Plus-Sized Elf gets made into an anime (which I could probably see happening), it could end up going through a similar licensing situation.

It's still streaming in English in Australia and New Zealand.

Yeah, kinda surprising they're still contiuing the reviews, but yeah, for Sedna's question, there's an Editor's Note explaining that.

I know that jerkass protagonists are kind of a "your mileage will vary" thing, but I'm pretty sure that Stunk and Zel are supposed to be likable. I personally like them, and I haven't heard anything about them being unlikeable, unlike someone like Rance. Note that likeable doesn't necessarily mean someone that you would like to emulate, but it does mean someone you find entertaining. That said, I'm sure that many people would like to be them... at least in a fantasy world without STDs or accidental pregnancies to worry about.
