It sounds like they were really stuck in a difficult dilemma. They weren't able to just cancel the convention earlier because of their contracts with the hotel/venue. I'm really bummed about missing Youmacon (not that I would have gone anyway because of the pandemic) but it's good that they're finally able to cancel without as many repercussions.

The hotel dumped them out on their asses. This was already canceled awhile ago and they were scrambling to find a new lodgings.

There was no difficult situation, they were literally still trying to go ahead through.

Let me get this straight. The hotel called it off nearly a month ago and the con is only telling attendees now that the con's not happening?

That's just irresponsible.
