I tried a few times to get that but my card company declined the purchase. I think there is most likely a spending cap and that LotGH box is over it...and then along came COVID, temporary unemployment, and sanity won out over the prospect of owning one of the best anime....oh well it's gone now. *sigh* 
I do have the first 2 seasons of the Die Neue These though.
Will pick up Chihayafuru Season 3 and possibly To Love Ru Darkness.

Yeah. Much as I love LotGH, I just care for the OVA series and couldn't justify spending nearly $800 on a limited edition set where I wouldn't care for the remaining items. I get maybe licensing conditions from Japan may have had a hand to play in the series just getting an LE run for a physical release. But have more important things to spend $800 on in my personal life.

They announced awhile ago that there wouldn't be a standard release. We should assume that this is it for LoGH physical releases in the US.

I have to assume that state of affairs was part of their license agreement. Clearly, from a normal business point of view, they would have wanted a normal release had it been an option.

That was 3 years ago though and things can change in time.
I'm not expecting an announcement any time soon (or possibly ever), but "never" isn't something you can definitively declare either.
The series was "never" coming out here until this set was announced after all.

Yeah, the tweet doesn't say there "wouldn't be" a standard edition, it says there aren't [current] plans for one. And face it, it's marketing suicide to say "you don't need to buy our $800 version, a cheaper set will be released too."

Huh, I figured they'd lost the license to this, considering it aired back in 2012 and the discs had gone out of print. But I suppose Mysterious Girlfriend X is of similar vintage and also saw a re-release, and neither title ever left HiDive.
