The 3 holes Denji makes when thrown into buildings spell C, S and M. (pointed out by @NezukoSocial on Twt)

Already my favorite opening of the year, no cap. It's surreal how Shingo Yamashita always manages to outdo himself when it comes to his openings, and this one specially is a love letter to Fujimoto and everything CSM is.

Gotta give the animators prop to replacing the USA map from Tomatoes with the VERY different looking map of the country in Chainsaw man's universe.

Another example of how strong this year has been for anime OPs.

The reference that killed me was The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes shot Laughing

Don’t like the OP song but the Texas Chain Saw Massacre reference was great. The 1974 original movie is one of my all-time favourite horror movies!

At first I was worried about copyright infringement and possibly bordering on plagiarism, but thankfully it's just the OP and nothing in the actual anime. That I know of. Cool though.

storyboarded by Shingo Yamashita, who also served as the sequence's key animator.

He storyboarded and directed it , he didn't do any animation. Also just realized I still have not finished Pulp Fiction Laughing

I think the way Power's name appears in the OP is a reference to how Thor's name is displayed in the logo of Thor: Love & Thunder. Same exact color gradient (blue into red) and it even has lightning around it.

@author of this article

Hi,

I just wanted to politely ask for the thumbnail of “Goodbye Eri” at the end of this article be removed/replaced with a different thumbnail.spoiler[ The current thumbnail in the article is the last panel of “Goodbye Eri” so it is a really big spoiler. I don’t want this really impactful moment to be spoiled for people who haven’t read it, so I just wanted to let you know.]

Thank you so much and I really appreciate your work and that you made this article, it was really interesting!

Yeah, just making homages to movies and the like still counts as fair use in most circumstances.

And let's be honest; if nobody went after Princess Jellyfish for their OP, I'm pretty sure CSM will be fine Smile https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Npjs9eYtWf0

spoiler[I think it would be fine if they just removed "The End" at the bottom, "Goodbye Eri" has so many twists I don't thing anybody would be able to be spoiled just by seeing this image. There are like three scenes of walking away from explosion in the manga]
Agreed about article being good fun.

I knew that bit of them climbing over the table in that tiny room looked familiar. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! Although I prefer Return of the Killer Tomatoes this unexpected reference fills me with joy.

The most amazing bit, to me, is that not one but two anime this season reference Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs in its opening completely independently from each other.

Goes to show just how iconic that movie is.

The second one is Akiba Maid Sensou, and it's pure Tarantino goodness all the way through thus far. Also the best first episode I've seen in years.
