Once hired isn't the same as actually having a script. Why can't they get Proyas involved, since he's the only one who's done anything close to real sci-fi in Hollywood over the last decade?

Kalogridis is the one writing Battle Angel, and has a solid track record, so she probably is more qualified that anyone. She also tends to do heroines.

I somehow thing this will go terribly wrong, and become another testament to poor adaptations.

gohm: Seems like she's been on a lot of bombs to me, so I hope we don't get another Aeon Flux...

Well, I'm not familiar with any of her work first hand and based on reviews of her existing work, I'm really not impressed. Still, she's apparently working with Scorsese on his next project so that's maybe a positive.

Oh good goddess no. I don't like the idea and if that ageless Mila thing is cast as Motoko, I'm moving to Ireland.

America is doing this. The only female suitable for the main role is, of course, Megan FOXXXX.

...Rachel Nichols maybe?

I'm still kind of hoping that all of this is a bad dream and I'll wake up eventually. Preferably sooner than later.

This adaptation has about the same chances of being done, as a game seven W.S. win by the Anaheim Angels! Megan Fox as Mokoto....Yucck!!

I think that Ghost in the Shell is probably the HARDEST anime premise to screw up. I mean, we did just have Surrogates come out (though apparently it was pretty well panned over at Rotten Tomatoes, the subject matter was at least in the genre) and the mention of Sigourney Weaver reminded me of the Alien movies... and Blade Runner, too. I mean, this isn't any broad material that hasn't been done to good enough effect in other American movies.

Haha, oh wow.

Anyways, at least now I can stop worrying about whether or not the movie's gonna end up sucking.
