If it's okay, I'd like to ask some questions...

Is Nina required to be in the logo, and if so, can we crop past strips (only because the Sunday deadline is cutting it pretty close to draw from scratch)?

Are the boxset offerings still the same?

Are borders allowed?

Is there a determined size of the lower right that's covered by ads or was this an IE6 issue?

Are transparent backgrounds allowed?

What format of PNG is required (8, 24, or 32)?

I may just have to give this a try! Sounds like fun.

Yes and Yes. But we're likely to look more favorably on original art.

No.

Yes

Approximately the size listed in the template, 130x100 pixels. It varies based on the visitor's resolution. People with high resolution won't have any of the logo covered.

Yes

Any color depth as long as the file size is 75kb or less.

Sounds fun, I'll prolly give this a shot, but that's one tight deadline...

Now it's a just battle between greed and the ol' H1N1!

I think the answer is yes, judging from last year's entries, but I'd also like to know for sure.

I really liked the 2008 winning image, so I'm having a tough time deciding on something that would be a worthy successor...

Another question- I've made two entries, and they're both over that 75kb limit! I don't know how to make them less (I don't really get that kb thing), so how important is that? Is that something they'll overlook if my picture's good enough?

I think PNG is a troublesome format, as it is always bloated in terms of filesize. So I feel your pain, myochan. I really do.

I'd say it's very unlikely.

What program are you using? If it's Photoshop, don't use "Save As". Instead, choose "Save for Web & Devices". This will bring up a different menu that will let you a) save at a much, MUCH lower file size, and b) let you make minor tweaks (color range, etc) that will shrink the size further. I was just able to get a 500x800 350kb png file down to 70kb, so I'm sure you can get your banners to work. Smile

Unfortunately, I work almost exclusively in Photoshop, so I can't really help with other programs. I think that Painter has the same "Save for Web" feature, though. Hopefully this helped.

I tried reducing the colors like Etrien suggested, and it worked!

But when I tried to enter, this message came up- "Sorry, you already entered that contest" WTF!?!?

The one I sent the other day was the original with the too-big filesize, so I'm screwed!

Please, whoever's in charge of the contest, allow us to enter more than once! This is a silly, unnecessary restriction and I worked so hard! I don't want my efforts to be nullified by such a dumb technicality!

I made two designs, but I'm only able to submit one! I didn't know that there was a limit. Is it really impossible to submit another design?

If you have additional entries, e-mail them to [email protected]

Do this only if your first entry was submitted by the form.

Wow, that prize list is absolutely amazing! I guess I was underestimating what "at least $500" meant. Even so, I'm going to have to bow out of this contest for a number of little reasons. But, good luck to everyone else - I'm eager to see what you come up with! Very Happy
