Well, maybe if FUNi licensed different shows for different people... Not just "the same damn thing in different costumes" in the hopes of keeping the dedicated fanbase... Idea

Samurai 7
Rin ~ Daughters of Mnemosyne
Fruits Basket
Trinity Blood
Sekirei
Eden of the East

....

I rest my case.

That pretty much sums it up. It felt like every Noitamina show they've streamed died.

And like I said, none of the shows they've streamed thus far could be released on DVD; Japanese companies don't appreciate us coming out with DVDs before they do! Give it a year and then we can start bitching.

Although for me Mononoke was by far a greater, and more memorable experience.

Mononoke is made of awesome, but I wonder if there isn't some red-tape there with Geneon having the license of Ayakashi: Samurai Ghost Stories (Mononoke, as I assume you know, spins off from the last story in that).

Was Kuragehime really such a difficult title that it needed to be translated?

Well, other than "Jellyfish Princess" sounding more like My Bride is a Mermaid than what it actually is, the Japanese preserves the play on words with the lead's name, Kurashita. Not opposed to it getting a name change, but a straight translation doesn't appeal to me.

Oh, I'm not bitching! Wink I just shop online once every six months or so for anime DVDs/BDs. And six months definitely accumulates enough releases to satisfy any rising shopping lust. But then again, I don't live in the US, so I give preference to local releases even if they take longer and cost more, so buying in huge batches is the best path I've found thus far.

While Kuragehime looks interesting and I'm glad that it will be streamed - this announcement from Funi is kind of weak. Just 2 shows and one, Sora No Otoshimono Forte, has already been licensed for streaming by Crunchyroll - why watching it at Funi/Hulu?

I HAVE the Trinity Blood boxset.

What do I also have? Ghost Hunt (thanks to Rojas), Black Cat, Glass Fleet, Black Blood Bros., le Chevalier D'ion, and Last Exile.

I plan on buying Black Butler, Sacred Blacksmith, Chromeshelled Regios, Shukufuku no Campanella, and Strike Witches II.

FUNi should license titles like Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou, "Fight Ippatsu Juuden-chan," Hakuouki, and Betrayal Knows My Name (Uraboku).

And they should spend less time and money filling their charts with animu that features more naked women than anything solid. (You know. Like engaging plot and likeable characters.)

And no, Seikirei IS a "same damn theme in different costume," show; that "underpowered pansy surrounded by more powerful females" type of show.

[__], Rin ~ Daughters of Mnemosyne, [___], [___], [___], Eden of the East
works for me.

Nice pickup, as far as Sora no Otoshimono: Forte goes. Alsways nice when I can follow something I want to see legally.
As opposed to watching it on Crunchyroll? Huh?

I don't have any interest in it, but if putting it in front of people who get their streams from Hulu and YouTube generates royalties that pays the piece rate for an inbetween animator for another week, I'm happy that it is out there on multiple channels for the people that like that kind of thing.

So... they should license:
A uneven harem comedy with a magical twist
An ecchi comedy with magic girls
A reverse-harem series based of a dating sim
A BL series

Yes. Yes, those are all totally not generic "animu" at all.

Is there a smiley for "very confused"?

Anime that doesn't feature "young men getting beaten down, and/or wussified, by women (in order to please the otaku fanbase)."

What's so confusing about it?

Wait... what? You're protesting these fanservice-driven series on the grounds that they're misandrist?

Okay, is there a smiley for "so confused she's ready to quit"?

Well, that is certainly an original argument against them, and that counts for something, I guess.

Eh, ignore that guy, you totally made my day with the Kuragehime announcement. I'm hoping you guys also have dvd rights for it, as it's something that looks like it'd make an excellent addition to my collection Smile

Tyrenol-- hmm..... boobieriffic fanservice show acquired the same day as the anime adapting one of Moto Hagio's favorite josei manga series? Oh yeah , totally the same thing 0_O

I'm pretty puzzled why some people are going "oh no it's more of the same stuff!" when, well, Sora and Jellyfish are two pretty darn different shows for two really different audiences. noitaminA shows in general are pretty different from most of the anime that gets brought over here, heck, it's usually pretty different from what's normally on in Japan too.

So, dancing around over here for Jellyfish Princess (hmmm, gotta get used to saying that now) and I can't wait for more of that and Shiki tomorrow!

(And to add on to the earlier list of licensed noitaminA shows, Honey and Clover was actually two parts so it should count twice, I *think* I heard that Mononoke was licensed by a US distributor but it fell apart and it went to licensing hell, and Antique Bakery was licensed by Nozomi/Right Stuf. So that adds up to seven licensed and five more streaming which is 13 out of the 23 noitaminA shows so far and doesn't sound that bad to me.)
