What is a "healing anime"? What kind of genre is "healing"?

Is this one of those slice-of-life anime involving school life and drama?

Not really any "drama." And while they are students, it doesn't really follow their lives at school; it's almost entirely set after school and on their days off.

Definitely happy to see it's getting another season. Probably my personal favorite slice-of-life series from last year (although it was a good year for the genre as a whole).

Ah that sounds interesting then. Might give it a shot although most like a marathon.

It's basically a title that is meant to give the viewer a pleasant, soothing feeling by the end of an episode (effectively "healing" them after a long day). Here are some titles TV tropes lists as examples of the genre, including last year's "Croisée" and "Usagi Drop."

I would also list Natsume Yuujinchou as well. A wonderful series, once it gets going that is.

The thing about healing Anime is that you have to be - or you have to want to be - in the mood for them. Watch it at the wrong time and it will seem mind-numbingly boring. But watch the same episode at the right time and it will be sweeter and calmer than a lullaby.
