There was a reference to Macross, alright, but THE main lampshade was Mars Attacks since the very beginning.

W, Episode 11

It was not until after the episode did I realize who Atoko/Atko was. She was the friend of Nyaruko from the second shorts series. I don't know if they will manage to bring out another season, but having her appear in the proper animation might be good, I am sure she had an amusing personality.

There sure was a lot of lusting this episode, I had to go back and check who spoiler[spoke after each hiccup to see that the matches worked.]

I wouldn't mind an episode where we just follow Yoichi around all day. Hell, he could just fish all day I'd probably still be amused

Holy crap, the Scirocco references alone...

Pretty typical ending but still enjoyable. The same can mostly be said about the series as a whole. There were plenty of laughs, Kuuko was HNNNRG, but once again Nyaruko doesn't change at all and can be quite annoying.

So it turns out that all three deities can be made happy with just a pat on the head with maybe seconds. So Mahiro should be smart enough to realize that even if they are staying at his place for the next 500 years he won't have to put out.

Of course I could never see why it would kill him to give Nyarko a tumble.

W, Episode 12 (final)

The reveal was not that surprising, perhaps I got used to it. I figured out as soon as it spoiler["attacked" him that the robot was in love with Mahiro, and trying to figure it out pointed towards them obviously using Nyaruko's brain as the template.] I was a bit disappointed that it took so long to reveal it since I figured it out easily. Actually I was a little disappointed with this season as I was hoping for something really climatic as I am such a big Nyaruko-san fan. They could have made Mahiro at least admit that spoiler[he did not want them to leave].

As for episode references, I did not really recognise much. The Papakiki reference was obvious, I think Bast was sharing a voice actor with Yoichi, who they used to reference earlier. I thought the initials HPL sounded strangely reference like, only afterwards did I actually figure out who's initials they were.

I hope for more Nyaruko-san, but this season makes me a little afraid that they might run out of juice, perhaps a change in tone would be needed to make it fresh again. I will rate it Good, that is disregarding my opinion that would have been happy with anything from this.

I didn't catch any Papakiki references, but even with different wording it's impossible to miss the Ro-Kyu-Bu one.
