Swwweeeet! And with such a title, it might be safe to assume that were going to get an actual sequel, which would be super awesome! Very Happy

Really hoping this is a sequel and not retelling, but nevertheless this is exciting news!

If this does end up being a sequel, I'll be totally thrilled. I was so sad to have to say good-bye to Kissuiso and see it close up its doors at the end of the series. I hope we're able to see this stateside - I wonder if Crunchyroll would stream an entire movie, since they streamed the series.

Even if it's a retelling, though, I still want to see it. This is far and away my favorite slice-of-life anime.

I hope it has a 120 minute or longer runtime, and that full movie budget it needs.

there probably wasn't enough material for another half season, but a movie that would be perfect.

Chiming in with everyone else who hopes it will be a sequel. (Although I have no idea how I'd get to watch it in the States).

Side-note: With all the Crunchyroll titles that Sentai's picked up lately I was hoping Hanasaku Iroha would join the list. Sigh...

Here's hoping this is an original story and not just a re-edit of the series.

They could always pull a Cowboy Bebop and position it as a story set within the timeline of the show. There wasn't a super rigid every episode takes place on a specific date setup to the series so they could stick a new story in there.

That's what I'm thinking is going to happen. I would rather see a sequel where spoiler[Kissuiso is reopened], but I'll be happy with any Hanasaku Iroha adventure that stays true to the spirit of the series.

they could easily do a time skip and show them reopening the inn and getting everyone back together, which they said they would do at the end of the TV series.

I guess I'm in the minority hoping for some sort of retelling. I enjoyed the show but not sure I would spend the time to watch the full 26 episodes again - a well done retelling in movie form would be welcome to me.

As the story felt complete to me as it ended, neither a sequel or a mid-show side-story feels appropriate. I'll still give it a try if it's either of those though. Just because I don't see them as necessary doesn't mean I wont be surprised by an excellent production.
