why is it that they can make a movie like transformers/spiderman and yet they fail badly on other anime-live action, its like they don't cast the right actors for the job

I never said that. I love the original DB. Kindly stop putting words in my mouth.

I hope there is a digital midnight showing around here. The movie will be bad, but lets watch it pretty and then go on about returning to our lives.

I kind of can't wait to see it. |
I'm sure that'll be pleasant for the rest of the movie-goers. |
Other movie goers?

Alcohol induced? You give the movie too little credit.

Now, now ... as bad as this movie will be, there is no cause for name calling. Certainly not that name anyway.

Does anyone else feel curious about what its numbers in Japan will be? So many people there seem to be expressing disgust over this movie already that I'm dying to know how it's gonna perform there...

It's funny 'cause that amount is practically worthless

Second MK movie, I don't know I sat through watching that one. I think this movie though will remind me of how Transformers turned out. I liked it.

American Goku is an emo, he is supposed to look emotionless. If you are going to watch this movie, you should forget that there is an anime called Dragon Ball.

I'm interested to see what the box office results will be on the opening weekend when this movie is released in the US.
I dont know if this movie will be able to surpassed Speed Racer weekend Box office record, which BTW was over $18 million. If there was enough hardcore DB fans that go out and see this movie over the weekend, I predict that the weekend gross for that first week would probably be around $20-$25 million.
As for total gross worldwide, it's uncertain if this movie will pass over $100 million which is also the budget that was spent for this film.

Anyone else pondering ways to sneak in a bottle of wine/whiskey/whatever your preferred hooch is to the theater, if they even bother seeing it?

^ Hey, I've snuck coffee before. Get an old Starbucks cup and disguise your hooch.
I don't know, I think this movie looks like great fun! Yes, it's a glowing turd, but it looks like it will be fun to watch in all its glorious terribleness. Basically, I just don't think it looks like DBZ or Dragonball or ANYTHING anime, it just looks like a lame martal arts movie. If it weren't for the character names and the shout of "Kamehameha!" I wouldn't know this was based on Dragonball at all, I'd think it was some stupid but fun looking action flick. Therefore, I am in. I'm not even a fan of DBZ, but my boyfriend is a raving fanboy, so we'll be going...probably at some ungodly hour of the night with no one else in the theate but a bunch of other hooligans making jokes about it the entire night and throwing candy at each other, but watching it nonetheless. THAT'S the way to watch this movie!

That movie also seems to be based on The Journey to the West. It's one of the most retold stories in Asian culture, so it's not a huge shock.
