Wow, I can't believe this is actually getting released here! I've been curious about this series ever since I first heard about it in a book about the history of manga. Thank you so much, Drawn & Quarterly

There are AT LEAST 25 books. There are 25 books in a "complete" collection that was published years ago, but there have been more Kitaro comics since then. AND there have been a number of Kitaro encyclopedias, map collections, guidebooks to yōkai and other monsters narrated by the characters from Kitaro, collectors' guides featuring the characters, movie tie-ins for the 2007 and 2008 movies, the Fifty-Something Stations of the Yōkaido Road, etc., etc., etc..... All in all, counting the encyclopedias, I'd guess it's closer to 50 books' worth. And that's not counting Akuma-kun or Kappa no Sanpei. |
