Finally some movement! I was starting to worry they'd forgotten to make a second season. Can't wait to see it and I hope Bandai Entertainment will still be around to license it for R1. (Also, any chance of a legal stream for those of us who'd really like to see it soon but would prefer NOT to go down the path of sin?)
Hopefully the anime biz will pick back up in time for this to hit.

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't. The only impediment to licensing this I could see would the Japanese asking an astronomical price for it based off the success over here for the first. |
Actually, the first series sold quite poorly compared to expectations (as a certain other thread on this forum says with the real numbers). The licensing fee is likely going to have to come down some.

Relaunch............
Hmmm. I could go on and make some elaborate Spaceship analogy about my feelings about this annoucement, but that would take to much time.
I'm 50% ;FKLDJA;DLKF Mode over this annoucement, because even though I still have mixed feelings about the first season, I still am looking forward to a continuation.
But the other 50% is like, c'mon. It feels like they are just wagging a bone infront of a dog that's been starving for like... 2 years.
I guess I'll won't be Chicken Little and Have the Sky fall on me when this actually comes out, but for now... psssh.

Combine this bit of news with the fact that April means the Revoltech Live Alive Haruhi Figure releasing and the LONG OVERDUE English light novel of the original story coming out as well, I think we can safely call it that April should be NATIONAL HARUHISM MONTH!

Why not do both? Watch it subbed until it gets licensed, then buy it! That's how I rolled with the first season, and my plan shall come back into effect for the second! |
Thats what I will probably do. I won't be able to wait since I can be an impatient person for these sorts of things.

Oh I'm definitely gonna buy but in the end I'm going to end up watching subs first. I'm really excited though. I wouldn't be surprised if the first season got a rerun though maybe stating at the end of this month.

I've given up on KyoAni being anything other than "Those not-so-nice-people who's animation production power level is over 9000 and yet they waste thier time on shit porn game adaptations".
So I belive it's a reairing.

Clannad is basically the same thing, and Lucky Star is just a show riding on the coattails of Haruhi with low budget animation.

Were you watching it via youtube? Simpler character designs does not low budget make. The framerate was unusually high for decent chunks of the show, and the lineart in motion certainly wasn't the usual low-budget easily flood-fillable fare.
I'm wondering whether they've missed the boat with this. Riding on the success of the first season by airing a second back in 2008 would have given them a huge fanbase. Now, the relatively short-lived Haruhi-mania is over, so this might perform far below expectations. Lets hope KyoAni aren't pinning their future on this, I'd like to see an FMP 4 at some point.

This is excellent news. Now I have one more thing to look forward to this April. Hopefully Bandai USA will license this for release in the US quickly.

I was actually in Tokyo a few months ago, I still saw a ton of Haruhi stuff still around. I bought a couple figures and even one a Ryoko figure in a game machine. I'm pretty sure it's still popular over there.

Yeah, I know. That was a slight disappointment. Still, it's popular. We'll get the license I'm sure, I just hope Bandai picks it up again. I mean, it isn't like Bandai is guaranteed to get the license, unfortunately.
