Muv-luv Alternative - Total Eclipse. This has the potential to be one of the biggest shows this season. It's a rare show that spoiler[builds up a full cast - with them featured in opening credits - then kills all bar one cast member]. I'm eager to see where it goes from here (I'm a little upset though that spoiler[Yui didn't end up a catatonic wreck]).

It is not as rare as you might think. I have seen several anime do something like this and to be honest I think Muv-Luv handled it badly. I strongly disagree that it built up a full cast. No one seemed to have much in the way of a personality. It might end up being the biggest show of the season but it needs to manage its time skips better and do a lot better with its characters.

The way I see it, episodes 1 and 2 could be easily left out. They did two big mistakes there, firstly they killed off most of the mystery about the aliens during really badly executed scenes that neither satisfied my curiosity, nor counted as good action, and secondly, spoiler[ they killed a cast of undeveloped characters] I couldn't care less about, and can't see how anyone would care about. In a way, I don't see why I'd miss a bunch of mediocre characters. It'll be a surprise if this show goes above average, because right now, that's beyond my expectancies.

Yep, Muv-Luv Total Eclipse is all shock factor and no substance. They killed off a bunch of characters I don't know anything about nor care about in any way, and it seems like they are banking on the fact that we'll find their mutiliation so shocking we'll completely miss how shoddy the animation quality and storytelling is. TOO BAD! I'm on to you Muv-Luv, or shall I say I'm off to you, because you are dropped.

Definitely seems forced.
Main Character hasn't even made his apperance.
Freaking Yuuya.

The fact that the first two episodes are anime exclusive story might have a little thing or two to do with the pacing issues though.

Considering the main plot hasn't even started, the fact that the first two episodes are over-view for people who aren't familiar with the series and the fact that it's anime exclusive prequel material to set up Yui's character might not have something to do with it?

And shoddy animation quality?
It's Satelight. I'm assuming you haven't seen say, the original Aquarion? Now that's terrible animation quality.

Whatever negative qualities aside, it's militarized mecha fighting aliens and it has gore. That's more than enough for me, but I wish the initial streams were uncensored, because Vortia's reaction is exactly what I expected from someone only seeing it censored.

I'm not into anime for the gore, I'm here for the story and characters. Thus far the characters are non-existant, and the plot can be summed up as "BETA fall, everyone dies". As a prologue to the "main story", they could have covered everything in a single episode (Space Aliens! Boogie-boogie!). If this is one-cour, I can't see how they can really make a recovery from this in 10 more episodes when I already feel like they've wasted my time. If one of my friends comes to me after episode 8 or 9 airs and tells me the story is epic, I might give it another shot, but my expectations considering the current quality displayed in writing aren't high.

I'm shocked the second episode of koroko connect was actually good. yes I said it the second episode was good. It actually made laugh, it wasn't borderline pornographic, and it actually had substance to it, and developed the characters beyond "THIS IS _____ AND HE/SHE IS _______" also the introduction of a new character did help as well.

Huh. Well, they might have enough time to redeem themselves then. I'll let someone else let me know, though. I'm not going to stick around waiting for it to get interesting.

That's fine, it's probably not worth the effort. Don't mistake that I'm saying it's not worth any effort to watch this show at all, I'll always have high tolerance for real robot anime unless it's Pretty Boy Gundam Sentai, those I can do without now.

Of course, watching Aesthetica on Funi is going to be worthless since it's most likely to be censored (unless they somehow offer 720p resolution+uncensored to paying members....hahaha).

Given that their simulcasts last season were 720p to Elite members, I would expect that.

Uncensored is not something I expect to see anywhere in simulcasts until either the audience is much larger or the subscription fees higher. People in Japan pay the equivalent of around $23 per month for AT-X.

Looking for uncensored simulcasts on $7-$8 per month services is like looking for HBO2Go to be offered standalone for $4 per month.

^ this also the show needs to drop the porn and just move it's story along because it was an interesting concept, till they made it into a generic school H comedy.
