everyone knows toriyama hates dragonball, he never broke from it's shadow,

fox: how can we burn $60,000,000-$100,000,000

toriyama: make dragonball, and don't have me write the script

You know, I really think he's just saying what he's saying: if you look at it as an adaption that is seperate from the main series he created, it'll be good. I think you guys are really looking way too into this.

It won't damage the property, because he'll say "It's those damn gaijin who effed it up, not me." Plus it'll give other manga-ka more leverage in production decisions when they adapt the other Shueisha and Kodansha stuff.

kdm: I hear the economy's hitting Murdoch badly, too.

He called it an alternate universe title. That's funny.

Well, he's getting paid for it so it's not like he's going to shoot the golden goose. This is the first of three movies. Movie 2 is suppose to start shooting in 2009.

Now, c'mon! The movie isn't that terrible looking. Did you guys even see that new trailer that came out a few days ago? The DBE movie actually is shaping up pretty nicely with all the special effects giving it a much more animated look. And it isn't like this is going to be the next Mortal Kombat Annihilation or, worse yet, Alone in the Dark. And it will make a good amount of money.

I still think this movie is going to bomb but I won't pass serious judgment till I see it and as for the polite thing, fudge politeness theres more censorship in anime or any form of forgen entertainment entering the united states compaired to the minimal amount in the stuff the US makes, I think he should just say what he really thinks if the producers can't handle it then that's just sad

Da Games: The CG's improved, but it's still basically an overpriced home-made Youtube video. Actually, that's kind of insulting to Youtubers, since even their Thundercats fan video looks more professional than DB.

Why would he do that? Toriyama stands to make a lot of money if the movie is a success and leads to more movies (think J. K. Rowling). Why would he sabotage his own wealth? If he's gonna say anything bad, it'll be in private where no potential customer could hear it. That's just business sense.

enurtsol: At this point, Toriyama's set for life. He's just being nice because of his traditional cultural values which prevent him from bad-mouthing someone to their face.

Wow even bashing the creator now...

I think his opinion is sane. Enjoy it for what it is, not for what you think it should be.

It's a harmless movie made for entertainment. If you want to nitpick it to death that's your prerogative, but stop acting like it's going to ruin the series. It's not.

The series is still there, in fact you can watch it right now if you get off the Internet for a few minutes to stop bashing everything and pop in the DVD.
