After their first misstep, I think I'll hold off on this until after it's gotten reviewed. Don't care to get any surprises from them again.

Same here. If they actually managed to get subs on there, I'm concerned that they'll use Toei's subs which I heard weren't the best. If so then Crying or Very sad. I wish Discotek had picked this up.

That's pretty well what I'm doing. I do want to see this, but S'More Entertainment has very little in the way of a track record and what they have is mostly blot, at the moment.

Indeed, although I preferred William Alexander.

The listing on Amazon says it's on one disc, how many episodes is that? It would have to be double-sided to have a decent number of episodes given the MSRP.

Yeah, I'll wait and see on this one.

Well, as far as I Know, Galaxy Express 999 has 113 episodes...

That makes the price reasonable relative to the number of episodes... but it will probably not look very nice.

This was said back in May...

- Will we get Galaxy Express 999 Part 1 before the end of the year?

- that's the plan...we're tentatively scheduling the first box set for either Aug. or Sept., 38 episodes with sub-titling.

‎3 sets, staggered over probably 6 to 9 months....we're trying to make sure the fans have time to find one box before releasing the next one...thanks for the support!

Amazon's listing's been updated and the first set has four discs and a runtime of 950 minutes, so that makes for an average of 237 1/2 minutes(or nearly four hours) per disc(which is nine or ten episodes). That's over twice the length of maximum bitrate that can be fit(and that's not counting menus), so this certainly isn't going to be the prettiest release ever.

It's anime from the 70s, I think it's pretty much guaranteed to "not look very good" in my book either way. Laughing Doesn't mean it's a bad series though, in fact I'm buying it.

It can look nice if it's remastered and all of the grain and details become pronounced, but that's not the case here.

I'll buy them to support the release, but it will be a shame if I never actually use them because the video is inferior to Crunchyroll, which it probably will be, with as many episodes as they are trying to cram on each disk.

On a related note, Right Stuf also has a pre-order for Eternal Fantasy.

38 episodes on 4 DVDs (same format as 'Bobobo..."), last disc has PDF files of all scripts, sub-titles are burned in, the episodes are NOT dubbed into English...
